adding another vote to "please feel free to react to every the pitt episode", the medical accuracy makes these videos particularly fascinating to watch

The pair of Filipinos nurses working in the ER really gave it extra touch of realism.

You know a show is good when Dr. Mike explains it and then continues playing the episode and the characters repeat what he just said

the fact that the entire series so far is filmed as a SINGLE SHIFT is brilliant! Possibly the best thing they could have done to drive the point home of the chaos of what goes on in a single day of an ER, something most people will never see to appreciate.

I would love to see you continue following The Pitt episodes like this. It's fascinating, and it helps further the show's commitment to shining a light on the reality of what emergency room personnel have to deal with every day.

The Pitt has grown on me each episode, and it's now my most anticipated show every week. HBO is doing a great job with this one

Healthcare lawyer here: the person/s holding the durable POA are supposed to execute the wishes of the patient, but they are also the only person/s who can consent to care and treatment as well. Where you have the patient's written wishes available, but you do not have a willing party to consent to the care, the recommendation is often to defer to the patient's wishes. As counsel here, I would advise not seeking consent to care the patient expressly stated he did not want. If the children want to force care, they can seek an emergency motion from a court forcing the hospital to override the directive. The duty of care is to the patient, not the person with the POA. As an alternative, you could quickly convene the hospital's ethics committee to give additional clinical input. This can be helpful for the family as well to help them reach a decision that aligns with the patient's stated wishes. Really great content.

What a whiplash between the last scene and "have you heard of raw milk?"

I love the care and training that was put into trying their best to make this show as acurate as possible. Medicine doesn't need hours of romantic tension and people slinking through the halls for cheeky trists. There is naturally so much drama that already comes with just trying to save lives day in and day out. Not to mention the emotional depths this show touches on is truely something special.

As a person that is black with sicklecell thank you for explaining and defending us. We are so overlooked and mistreated in the medical field it don’t make sense. Like we are born with this excruciating illness vs cancer and other similar painful illness you just randomly get in your life. We are born with sickle cell and die with it too. Luckily today it’s changing for us sickle cell warriors but we still have problems that we just forced to deal with because they stereotype us about a pain they can’t feel/see while we are fighting on a day to day basis for our life. So I just wanna say thank you so much Doctor for teaching the world about us and defending on top of that. We need more people in this world like you and maybe sickle cell patients can live longer with the proper care, So I say thank you again 🤍.

I love that theres no crappy, cheesy music in the background of this show. It is intense enough without adding anything to try and manipulate emotion. It really puts you in the ED

This has got to be the most accurate episode Dr Mike has ever reviewed. Basically no corrections, just explanations of what is happening

Genuinely amazing acting. The mom crying for her son was…. It brought back memories. The fact that when Mike would hypothesize the medical situation and it be 100% dead on, means they did their research. Sometimes, a show doesn’t need exaggerated medical nonesense. Sometimes, a little realism goes a long way.

HBO should hire Dr. Mike to break down every episode like a medical directors commentary. It's so helpful having someone to explain the medical jargon. You really learn a lot through these videos. I would pay for that. Maybe this could be a Patreon thing?

The only glaring inaccuracy in the Pitt is the sheer lack of time spent charting or putting in orders in front of a computer. For better or worse, that’s like 70% of any given ED provider’s shift

My parents were both nurses. They were incredibly smart to have all the end of life documents in place AND explained to me the philosophy behind their decisions. There is a difference between extending life and prolonging death. Given their final illnesses, this explanation was a Godsend.

at this point i just want Dr Mike to react to this entire show, i'll wait for how long it takes

Former ER nurse here, the Pitt is super real, and your commentary is beyond spot on. To note my son was doored by an Uber passenger while riding his bicycle in a bike line while going into USC. Thank God, he did not have severe injuries but he did re-tear his ACL and had to have his third and final repair. He later was backed into by an Uber while riding his scooter after he recovered. This was in nearly the same spot in front of USC. People please watch out for bikes and scooters.
