Pokémon Soul Silver - Capturing Lugia

After defeating Clair and the Kimono Girls, you are finally able to catch Lugia (Soul Silver) or Ho-Oh (Heart Gold). Since we're playing Soul Silver, our destination is the Whirl Islands, south of Olivine.

Lugia is probably my favorite Pokémon of all time :D It's an incredible tank, with huge defenses, and the attacks, not as powerful as the defense stats, are also pretty good. Lugia is a Psychic/Flying Pokémon that fits in any team, and you can catch it with is signature move, Aeroblast.

I started with Lapras instead of Ampharos because Thunderbolt is too powerful; if I used 2 of them, Lugia would faint. So, started with Lapras' Ice Beam, to take it's health a bit down before Thunderbolt. Then, I just started throwing Dusk Ball's, which have a 4x catch rate due the battle being in a cave.

With Lugia caught, next destination: Pokémon League! Enjoy it!

Lugia basically destroyed my team. I had my lvl 43 meganium holding a focus sash and lugia had one hp left. I used my last pokeball and i caught it. I got so lucky, even though it took me 34 minutes!

Ho-oh's entrance fits more in line with the Kimono girls and the song being more ritualistic, while the song doesn't really fit with Lugia's entrance, instead making it more intimidating and foreboding.

I prefer Ho-Oh as a Pokemon over Lugia. But there is no denying, whatsoever, that the Lugia's overall presentation, especially in its intimidating entrance and the new battle theme composed in HG/SS, is pretty much agreed upon by most (myself included) to be vastly superior to Ho-Oh's.

I think that both summonings for Lugia and Ho-oh were awesome but I prefer Ho-oh simply because being super high up in the air and hearing the wind is pretty cool

funny thing is for me when i did this it only took one ultra ball XD, same for ho-oh for that matter when i got the rainbow wing later on XD
