Why Aren't These Pokemon In HeartGold and SoulSilver?

Pokemon HeartGold and Soulsilver may just be the perfect games. This little blip involving Leafeon and Glaceons availability was only shown to me recently and I had no idea they weren't in the game- but even this makes sense! it sort of works in a way considering that most people had or have one of Pokemon Diamond, Pokemon Pearl, or Pokemon Platinum. Leafeon and Glaceon are incredible Pokemon, but we are going to have to trade in this one instance

Don't forget Magneton not being able to evolve into Magnezone due to there being no magnetic areas for it to evolve in

don't forget adding an entire new area where you can catch Misdreavous but still not giving us a Dusk Stone until post game

The Hoenn remakes are the only remakes where one can evolve all the eeveelutions at the time they were made. The irony is that Hoenn is the only one of the four regions to not have Eevee be native to the land.

The reason they didn't add the Rocks for Eevee to evolve is because, if they did, you could evolve into Glaceon before evolving into Leafeon, and Game Freak's favourite passtime is fucking over Glaceon fans

It wasn't just the sinnoh eeveelutions.
For some ungodly reason thought it was a _good_ idea to roadblock probopass and magnezone, despite magneton being in the johto dex and perfect use for it in the KANTO POWER PLANT

Ever since BW, GameFreak realized that every region from that point will need to have an icy rock, a mossy rock, and a special magnetic field to support the evolutions that need them.

But they decided they don't want location-based evolutions anymore from Gen 8 onwards. (But for some reason, Runerigus is a thing. Somebody thought of Runerigus' evolution method and actually thought that's a good idea and somebody approved it to actually be in the game.)

Also, they decided to make Galar and Paldea the regions with the most expansive open areas where location-based evolution methods would have made the most sense.

Friendly reminder that in ORAS there's the ice and moss rock even though the game takes place before Jotho and Sinnoh games

Right, and the lore about Espeon and Umbreon being unknown until Gen 2 is that the Earth hadn't started rotating yet?

They should have had an NPC visiting Johto/Kanto from Sinnoh that would trade you for a Glaceon/Leafeon depending on which version of HG or SS you were playing, would have been neat

I always hated how hard it was to get mons like Misdreavus due to being locked behind the Safari Zone

It would be possible to update the Regional PokéDex to allow the cross gen-evolved Pokémon. You can not evolve Golbat into Crobat in FRLG until you get the National PokéDex, for example.

ORAS had the right idea to expand the Pokédex. Let’s Go should’ve done the same. And BDSP should have just had the Platinum Dex + Sylveon and regional forms.

The togekiss one is so frustrating because of how easy it would’ve been to just put the shiny stone literally anywhere else. You can make the excuse that the evolution areas don’t make sense in Kanto and Johto, but not having a shiny stone anywhere before the end of the game was just dumb

When I first played soul silver I did NOT know that I'd be having my Togetic for as long as I did, but honestly it made Togetic grow on me and the eventual evolution in Togekiss made me appreciate it more, made it feel special since it took so long

Gamefreak: Designs really awesome and beloved Pokemon evolutions.

Also Gamefreak: Makes the methods of evolution so unnecessary complicated and restrictive you most likely won't ever see it.

most of the new sinnoh evos you can’t get until post game. i think the only available ones are the ones that you need a certain move to evolve. like mamoswine, yanmega, ambipom, lickilicky, tangrowth, etc

They could’ve just added those items to the Pokéathlon rewards for the main story reward table if they couldn’t be bothered to give them easily accessible overworld locations. But instead, even that is locked behind the post game’s second reward table. It really frustrates me, because the only reason Ambipom, Yanmega, Tangrowth, Lickilicky, and Mamoswine are accessible in the main story is because their evolutions are tied to moves in their level up learn sets; if Gamefreak had made those specific moves TM or breeding only for those 5 and then locked the TM or breeding partner behind the post game that would’ve been next level petty. Thankfully ORAS learned from that shortcoming (I’m replaying AS right now and it feels good having a Probopass after beating the 5th gym).

Thankfully, since Generation 8, you can use the Leaf Stone or Ice Stone on Eevee.
