Hi, I’m Krista! I make math courses to keep you from banging your head against the wall. ;)

Math class was always so frustrating for me. I’d go to a class, spend hours on homework, and three days later have an “Ah-ha!” moment about how the problems worked that could have slashed my homework time in half. I’d think, “WHY didn’t my teacher just tell me this in the first place?!”

@JoeGetsy you're welcome! i'm so glad!! :)

Yes, at least in introductory calculus courses. More advanced math courses do revisit lagrange multipliers.

Thanks a lot! Definitely cleared everything up in terms of the steps required. It's really nice of you to put all these videos on here though, you're helping a lot of people by doing this!

Thank you so much for doing a video like this, I didn't really understand it at first and then after I watched it I was able to do some homework I had and I got the correct answer. Thank You :)

Here is how you check it, put a point that exists in the constraint function and try it in the main function. Any point will do. Since the result is either min or max then any other point will either be greater or less then the langrand point. It's that simple.

I have two finals on Monday and one of them is differential calculus! Thank you so much for making it

wow..this is the exact problem i was having issues with..thanks a bunch;)

are you sure you could use the second derivative test? Does that not give you just the local max and min of those points of the original function. I don't believe that works with contraints since it doesn't take it in consideration. Though you did get the right answer.

My final had this exact langrange multipliers problem!:) I was literally imagining you explaining it all over again. btw, I got an A:P You're the best!!

Thanks, you explain really well, im trying to find an example with two restrictions. :s

Nice video, but I don't get why you are using the second derivative test on a constrain problem. I thought you only need to evaluate the function at the points gathered from solving the system of eqn.

but u forgot to mention that D-check is to check that whether the function has a saddle point or not.

shouldnt there be another complex point? 1i and -1i?

Local max and Min Vs Max and min difference?
