As if 120 star runners mental health wasn't bad enough. Now they got a near impossible strat 114 stars into a run

Just crazy how it went from being a meme to actual reality

Krithalith: I found it guys! I found carpetless!
Everyone: We don't like it. 🙁
Krithalith: ...*sigh* Yea, give me a second...

To think that Suigi has already done it 11x in a row. That's some real consistency there. 120 will be lastingly transformed

Also something I forgot to cover that some people are asking about is routing changes. Basically because Rainbow Ride is at the end of the run / at the top of the castle, it is slower to go to it any earlier than the end of the run. There is a theoretical route that goes to RR within 20-30 minutes, however that route only will save 17 seconds assuming you hit carpetless, which after hitting is gonna most likely make the rest of the run even scarier. I predict most runners will stick with the standard route however time will tell.

Thanks for mentioning the attempts Snowman and I did back in 2015. It's absolutely wild how much this trick has progressed in the last 8 years, but I'll always be wicked proud of getting it with a barely functional Gameshark at like 2am back in the day.

Shoutouts to Krithalith for taking responsibility and coming up with not only the less soul killing setup but going the step beyond and making that whole dictionary. I imagine it must have been a lot of pressure

Krithalith has been such a revolutionary person in Super Mario 64 TASing for the last years, and now I'm so glad he was able to provide this to the Super Mario 64 RTA community. Guy is a beast, and I expect for stuff from him in the future :D

You should have mentioned that Suigi posted a video of him doing it 11 times in a row - it makes it clear that consistency at it is possible.

Also Bubzia got Carpetless blindfolded 3 times in a row !!
Which i guess shows consistency

Imagine if we knew about this in 2020, back when Simpleflips was doing the Green Demon Challenge. Do you think he would've tried carpetless, instead of contacting Pannen and trying to trap the 1-up on the ship and the wall of the house?
That star was one of the craziest ones he did, and I wonder if it would've been as impressive if he pulled it off using carpetless.

It's going to be a painful day for speedrunners when this strat becomes standardized for 120. SM64 speedrunning continues to be amazing.

I love the fact that the name is Orthogonal Jones. What a fun name! Anyway, awesome news to hear! The frame-perfect stuff still sounds hard, but with time and practice, I'm excited to see how this'll affect runs! And what other exciting tricks are yet to come!

It is so crazy that after all these years we still find new strats and tricks in this game

As a mostly casual observer of the speedrunning community at large, seeing this get developed and pulled off is absolutely wild. Well done and congratulations to everyone who helped make this a reality.

...but more importantly 10:09 casually slipping de Blob music in the background?!? I don't know who you are but you have my eternal respect from now on.
