Summoning salt has built such an speedrunner’s video doc universe that Matt Turk appearing at anytime is believable even if it doesn’t make sense

I love the personality contrast between Kanno getting his world record and nearly/actually crying in happiness and Slipperynip beating his record and just going "alright"

You got me SO good with the Matt Turk! I was like "WHAT. I didn't hear about him running this game!" Yet I could wholly believe it.

Rules of Japanese speedrunning:
1. Scream like you're being brutally murdered if you get a record
2. Be uncannily fast

For the love of God, PLEASE don't ever change that intro music. I've only been watching for like 3 years but holy shit does it nostalgia slam me every time, it's crazy. Means I'm in for a MAX quality treat.

Man Matt Turk was so wild, I actually believe you when you said he just randomly showed up and snatched sub 16

A closely kept secret in speedrunning is that every top runner is just Matt Turk in disguise

His reaction at the very end was perfect. "Wow. Alright. Cool. Sweet."

“And his name was Matt Turk” had me believing in a speedrunning cinematic universe

“Wow. Alright, cool. Sweet.”

What an ending. I love the way Slipperynip celebrates. Legendary

"There was just one problem: It had been years since someone with a funny username had set a record"

Truly the highest priority

It's a clear sign of a skilled storyteller when salt can make these documentaries so fascinating to viewers like myself who haven't played videogames since they were kids and in my case have never speed run games . It's one thing to appeal to a core audience but very much another to appeal to such a wide viewership, kudos to salt...

That Matt Turk part really got me, I don't think i've ever said "no freaking way" out loud to a youtube video before. all of these videos are like top tier documentaries.

You know Matt turk is a powerful person when I am told he broke the 16 minute barrier in a game he hadn't been running prior and actually believe it for a minute

Summoning Salt videos hit different man, there's nothing like them on YouTube

For anyone curious, current WR is 14:35:500 by Suigi which is a staggering 15 seconds faster than 2nd place (Slipperynip)

I love how we all collectively accepted for a few moments that Matt Turk actually speedran this game. This man is so infamous for beating people's asses in speedrunning that he could be do anything and we'd all believe him.

I feel like “and his name was Matt Turk” is the punchline this channel has been building itself towards all along
