Shay is a true savior of the Assasins ironically, he ended a corrupted brotherhood and forged the new one that was taught the right way (Connor).

I like Assassins more than Templars, but what Shay did is not a betrayal, but a right choice

If Shay got three games as Ezio we would have had another masterpiece of a character at hand. Truly a missed opportunity.
1st game Shay is accepted to the Assassin brotherhood
2nd game Shay questions Assassin brotherhood at the end makes a choice to become a templar
3rd game Shay hunts down assassins and destroys colonial brotherhood.

I view the moment of Shay taking off his hood as a moment of symbolism that showed that he was no longer an assassin. Everyone else had their hoods on but him, thus showing the distinction between Shay’s ideology and theirs.

Is it just me or did the assassins broke a rule? "Stay your blade from the innocent"

i actually hate this branch of assassins. they used gangs to terrorize civilians and don't care for the mass deaths they caused. they were unscrupulous

Playing Rouge gave me a reason to actually believe the Templars. It's just different ideologies. Both want the same thing but want to control it differently. There's good assassins and bad assassins, just like good Templars and bad Templars. I never liked Achilles and Charles Lee.

Imagine for a second if you will. Achilles enters the room quietly and says "Shay, don't do this. Don't betray the Brotherhood. Come speak with me, I will listen." and Shay walked with Achilles and told him everything he saw, Achilles realizing how wrong they had been. Imagine how different a future Shay and the Brotherhood may have had. I wish they would make this into a DLC one day.

I love how Shay didn't get to complete the leap of faith into the water
It signifies his fall from the brotherhood

Technically it wasn't Shay who betrayed the brotherhood. But the brotherhood betrayed Shay, Achilles refused to listen even though Shay clearly knew what he was talking about. The Assassins were the first ones to resort to violence (Chevalier at the beginning, and Achilles when he caught Shay stealing the manuscript) And they even shot him in the back when he was about to kill himself which to me just seems like they tried to make sure that he was 100% dead and out of their way.

I am 100% sure that Altair and Ezio would be so disgusted by how Achilles handles the colonial assassins. Sure, they also collect artifacts, but they hid those in secrecy or simply study their nature. They never shared its secrets to the Brotherhood and use it for power.

"All those souls lost....one more hardly matters."

Man, the feels from that line. I wish we saw an alternate path, where Shay eventually sees the Templars as being selfish pricks and goes solo.

Young Shay still reminds me so much of Pierce Brosnan.

I don't hate Shay, I really agree with him. He joined the Templars for a good reason for it and I really appreciate it. Plus, the brotherhood is responsible for killing innocents and destroying cities. And they don't even care. There is no good or evil. For that matters is to do what you thought was right and no matter what side you chose or on. Templars perhaps... maybe assassin's. And of course that I'm an assassin. I really enjoyed playing as haytham kenway, the legendary Templar grand Master himself. He's a good character but sadly that he's a Templar but at least that he has assassin abilities. The which it's so cool for Templar like him that I want to connect to him.

This isn’t when Shay betrayed the brotherhood. Here he’s just stealing the only thing that would cause the Colonial Assassins from find the precursor sites. But he wasn’t doing it to betray them at this moment. It wasn’t until Shay learned that the Assassin’s were causing destruction in New York with their chemical gas weapons. Which is when he becomes a Templar.
