The bloom and glow of ps3 games has a certain charm to it, but this definitely makes characters look better. You can see their face in better details, actually their model looks more detailed than I ever thought they were.

Indeed this looks better, but I also like the original excesses of brightnes on the characters. It fits with how they're the only living and worthy things in that apocalyptic world. Also the brightness gives a more spectral and surrealistic atmosphere to the whole game, that makes DeS completely different from other Souls.

Great mod! Definitely prefer the original largely over the remake, and this small tweak is like unlocking a hidden video setting in the options menu!

Mmm… this kind of suffers from the same update DS1 remastered got. Both the original DeS and DS1 had no lighting engine, so everything was point lit by hand. As such everything has a very deliberate “look” to it regardless of realism. As soon as the reflective textures or the lighting changes, even by a few millimetres, points of interest look “Off”.

It's better than whatever the fuck that worthless remake did because this doesn't Change EVERYTHING nor does it race swap character's nor does it pretend it's Demon's Souls when being something completely different like how the remake is
