The fact that almost every other phone manufacturer has a fingerprint reader built into the screen proves that Apple could being Touch ID back, but chooses not to!

Razor, Sony, and even Samsung were able to put Touch ID on their power buttons on their phones. If Apple struggled with including Touch ID on their iPads, either Apple is lying to their customers, or they are really pushing Face ID.

They couldn't make it work??? lol of course they could have, but they are so highly invested in face recognition technology that they were even willing to make a dramatic Island with the intention to make it hip and fashionable. They are still highly invested and will decorate the exterior of the phone to be more attractive than the OS.

"interferes with other components" yet Android has under screen fingerprint readers they don't affect performance 🤨

As I keep saying, just put it on the apple logo on the back, it would be a really cool design and I think people wouldn't mind, or they would actually like it there.

Meanwhile Samsung has been embracing Touch ID and Face ID together for more time

They used touch id on the iPad air 4 instead of face ID because face ID requires the TrueDepth camera system, and they didn't want to add it on a $599 iPad, unlike $799 ipads and iphones.

Maybe with all the issues around people getting their device passwords watched they could implement Touch ID; so that there would be less need for even the password to occasionally be required.

I miss Touch ID. I hate that it takes a little more effort to unlock your phone

Ever since Face ID, I haven’t missed touch ID at all. I find face id to be a lot more convenient and don’t get why people are still obsessed with touch. Never found the need to use it on my iPad and my iPhone.

They could give us an under the screen fingerprint sensor alongside face id. Given the fact that the pro models cost above $1k. My $600 Pixel 7 has both fingerprint and face unlock.

Meanwhile Android has implemented it within the screen and its called 'under-display fingerprint scanner'. And the good news is, it works very good. Now a few years from now, Apple will include this technology in their iPhones and will give them a fancy new name, like TouchSecure X or whatever.

Before everyone comments how every Android have fingerprint readers and face unlock, I wanna say something. Although not being a huge apple fan myself, it's not easy as it sounds to add a touch id to an iPhone. The thing you guys forget is touch id isn't like the other optical or supersonic fingerprint reader like every other Android phone. It senses heat and electric impulses (which prevents fake(dummies) hands or a dead person's hand to unlock the device making it wayyyy more secure than it's Android counterparts) and integrating it into the screen would be a really tough thing to do. Yes, they could add it into somewhere else other than the screen but it's upto them if they will or not but it doesn't justify when you say Android have fingerprint readers on their phones. And also the face id is NOT like face unlock on Android. Apple has gone out of their way to add a lidar sensor on the front part of their iPhone to sense all the details making it a 3d model (which means photos nor fake dummies can unlock the phone with face id) and it can see every depth of your face making it the most secure face unlock to date. So it's totally upto apple to add touch id into their future apple devices

Face “biometrics” for a personal device was never secure or worked really well until Apple released Face ID. While they weren’t the first to make Face ID, or Touch ID, they sure perfected it. Now Touch ID is a lot more secure on many devices, however the competition did not try to improve it until after Apple released this fantastic feature.

Just a quick note, the iPhone SE (3rd gen) brought Touch ID back, but then iPhone 13 removed it again 😭

I love Face ID actually. I hate Touch ID. Anybody can unlock my phone with Touch ID when I’m sleeping
