iPhone 12 — Touch ID?!

Показать описание

Back in 2017, Apple deleted Touch ID and replaced it with Face ID. They didn’t keep both. They didn’t add Face ID to Touch ID. They went to the brave new world of biometrics and burned the old one down behind them.

But, the ashes had barely even settled before we started getting rumors of Touch ID’s return. It’s resurrection.

Not just in the new iPhone SE, which some people loved precisely because it had Touch ID, but in the flagship iPhones as well.

But, why would Apple kill it just to bring it back to life? And could they do it as soon as the #iPhone12?

Honestly I prefer touch ID. You can unlock your phone long before you're even looking at it.

You didn’t say anything in this video.
• Apple took Touch ID away
• Apple might bring Touch ID back
• maybe 2020
• maybe 2021
• maybe not at all
You wasted 5 minutes of my life telling me what might or might not happen someday. Don’t waste everyone’s time. If you know something say so - if not don’t waste our time with another wordy discussion about what you think might or might not happen just to throw out another video.

So basically short answer, no touch id on iPhone 12.

I’m still using my 6s+, ı decided that it would be a downgrade to use face id after i purchased iPad pro 11. Half the time i just put my pin instead of lifting the iPad

The iPhone 12 is the only reason I haven’t bought the 11 yet, can’t wait!

One of the aspects of the new iPhoneSE which draws me to it is that it uses TouchID instead of FaceID. If it wasn't for the fact that I spend about 98% of my time in my house, I would have already bought an iPhoneSE. Well, another significant reason I haven't bought one yet is that my cellphone-service provider is almost always out of the 128-gig iPhoneSE in the color I want.

But I have been torn between it and what I've heard for the low-end iPhone 12. But if iPhone 12 *did* have a TouchID sensor, that'd easily be enough for me to go for the 12 instead of the new iPhoneSE. So now I'm much more inclined to wait to see what Apple actually delivers for the iPhone 12. (...but if the iPhone 12 doesn't have TouchID, then I'm not likely to wait around for next year's iPhone)

Love your videos! I want Touch ID back ASAP. I will only upgrade my old iPhone when Touch ID is back so I hope it’s this year.

Never. I’m done with Touch ID. - From the first moment I used Face ID for the first time, everything else felt like a step backwards.

I hate face id on my ipad pro, I still have to tap the device and instead of that action letting me access with touch id, I near]y always have to position my face or move my finger from the face id sensor. Super annoying to be told to act in a certain way. Over engineering sucks.

Rene I think I’ll have to invent a drinking game for every time you say “persistent ambient authentication” or “threshold of trust” 😉

If Apple makes it so having both Face ID and Touch ID means I could use my phone in Winter with my face covered up and hands gloved that be amazing.

Now I’m curious if Apple ever thought about moving Touch ID into the power button for iPhone X before going with Face ID 🤨🧐 🤔. I wouldn’t have mind that instead of Face ID.

Ok, the thing I don't understand is putting touchID on the power button seems so inconvenient. I never use the power button to turn on my phone. The lower bezel with touchID or faceID is so much more intuitive.

Just upgraded from iPhone 8 to iPhone 12 and the removal of Touch ID is a classic example of where apple believe they improve technology by removing perfectly good technology.

I never used face ID anyway, and I especially wouldn’t of used it unlock the phone, that’s just so easy for someone to steal your phone and instantly unlock it, I always use a password. But now having to use face ID to unlock and use all my apps instead of touch ID is just so annoying, cumbersome, and blatantly counterintuitive.

I understand the removal of the home button, not used to it yet, but I see it as a good thing, but why would they remove a Touch ID if there was nothing wrong with it in the first place? It’s all about how Apple want you to live in Apple world, it’s been like this for quite a few years now, it doesn’t matter if it’s not a sensible world, as long as it’s Apple’s world then they’re happy.

(Oh for goodness sake, Rene.) OR they could have retained the bezel, kept Touch ID with Face ID, and had ZERO screen destroying notches! You do realise a "notch" is just a polite word for a bezel that crashes into the display. Even its defenders won't miss it.

idk i never missed touchid. i’m a tech guy, so i really like high tech stuff on my smartphone and touchid feels old tech to me. ALSO, it’s not very like apple to abandon something or replace something then put it back. i think it’s misguided to think that apple only abandoned touchid because of the full-screen design. think of this, do yall think faceID was ‘rushed’ just to solve the dilemma that would be the absence of the home button? of course no. faceid has been in the works for years to kill touchID.

Save your 8:46, he basically says the iPhone 5s revolutionized the world with Touch ID and we may get it on the 2021 iPhone. The rest is just blabbering. You’re welcome.

Never. It would be a huge step back for Apple. Face ID works very well and is very fast.

Touch ID is still a fantastic feature to use, especially during the current climate where it has been even more handier for people to access their iPhones a lot quickly than using Face ID, due to the high usage of people now wearing face masks.
