Why Apple Removed The Home Button

________________
When the iPhone X was released back in 2017, Apple officially dropped the home button in favor of something called gesture-based navigation. Now since then, they’ve still included home buttons on lower-cost iPhones like the 8, 8 Plus, and SE. But it’s clear that the home button’s days are numbered. And this major change has made many people feel confused and even a little uncomfortable. I mean, the home button has been around since the original iPhone over a decade ago, and users have become so familiar with its functionality that interacting with the home button has become second nature for most people. So there must be really good reasons for Apple to remove something that their customers have become so familiar with, and thats exactly what I’m going to explain in this video.

It’s funny how the days went fast and today the iPhone X became a history

In a year’s time I’d like to see a “why apple removed the notch” video

I think they removed the home button because to keep up with time, like imagine the iPhone 11 Pro with an home button looking like an IPhone SE 2

In 2019 I was still using my good old iPhone 6s. I didn’t upgrade earlier because I was hesitant towards an iPhone without a home button. It was time for an upgrade for me and although my hesitation I bought the iPhone 11. When it was delivered, I immediately set it up. The gesture based control felt so naturally and I was used to it within a couple of minutes! I never want to go back to a home button. Gesture based control is awesome and Face ID is simply lovely. People who are still holding back, make the step up to an iPhone without a home button. You will love it definitely.

the only problem is the face id system sucks while using mask during this pandemic time. having a secondary fingerprint reader would have helped greatly now.

The home button technically died on the iPhone 7 because the “home button” was a peace of glass that reacted by vibrates when in contact with human touch and giving you the feeling of clicking

I have recently upgraded from iPhone 6s to the iPhone 11. Honestly, I am not missing the home button nor the headphone jack. The only thing I am missing is the 3D Touch!!!

Sorry I'm late guys. Anyway. Start at 0:02 stop at 3:45 resume at 4:20. Though not as prominent as the previous one, the advertisement is fragmented. I hope you all were quick enough to skip to 0:02 haha

I guess my theory was wrong the removal of the headphone jack took “courage” so I thought that the removal of the home button took “heart” and thus we were one step closer to summoning Captain Planet. 😂

The removal of touch id and 3.5mm jack on the latest Iphones made go back to Iphone SE 2016. Those capabilities are quite useful and convenient up to this date.

I sure miss the home button in these days of wearing masks.

As a Samsung user, I was hesitant with switching from the navigation buttons at the bottom to the swipe gesture because I was so used to them. But when I finally switched, I never looked back. :)

If Apple went bankrupt in the 90's, we probably would still be using phones with keyboards.

He absolutely include the ads of the sponsors so blendly into his content to the extend that we don’t actually recognise it 😂

This doesn’t have much to do with the topic of the video, but I really like the focus on the face shots. The background is blurred to the point where you can still tell what things are, like the couch and television, but it makes him “pop” out at the camera more. It’s a very small detail that makes a big difference.

I think swiping requires less effort as well instead of having to press down on a home button.

Got the SE 2020 earlier this year and I love having a home button and Touch ID again. So useful for logging into things. Just scan my finger instead of typing out a password. Never had Face ID so im not sure if it would work with that or not
