there used to be an older but shorter version of the old math taught in grade school, but I forgot about it coz we had first 10 minute math challenges every grade:

we had a folder-like math chart with holes, and then put a blank sheet of paper inside then we solve and write the answers inside them. each side had addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. so we fold or flip based on which one we're asked to solve, and we have to finished them within a time limit. That conditioning taught us how to solve math faster by memory
