I'm a nanny. My charge's teacher doesn't teach him to borrow. She teaches him to "equalize". She incorporates other DEI verbage that I can't remember right now.

I needed a mathematician to explain that process. It's a system to look at things differently, for those people who can't understand the logic of math. But the old way should be taught, and the new way brought out if they can't figure it out. Kids are really intelligent, and we should be pushing their limits, not dumming it down.

That’s why I taught my son math before he started school!! He’s 16 now and keeps straight A’s and also is in Math Club and also helps his peers who may need assistance!! I’m so proud of him! So happy I taught him the way I was taught! School is really a breeze for him! We are our children first teachers!

I’ve taught my child the old school way and liked it better, but when it was time to show his work the school wanted him to show their pathetic way.🙄 Stupid.

This might work for doing two number, but you get a column of 6 or 10 numbers in a row, you're completely screwed.

My grandson started the 4th grade this year they taught him a new way to do addition and it was called stacking and he said Nana it is so easy. I had never heard of this so I was excited for him to come and show me exactly what stacking was. What he explained to me was exactly how what the lady in the video said. Meaning he took one number put the other number underneath it, they were then stacked and then he added them. So simple. I told him that was how i learned in 2nd grade. 😅
