A.) Is the length of one edge of the cube.

B.) Is the perimeter of one face of the cube

C.) Is the total length of the perimeter of four faces of the cube.

D.) Is the total length of the perimeter of six faces of the cube.

Answer is "a" (second option)

Area of 1 cube face = [6 (a ÷ 4)² ] ÷ 6

which becomes a² ÷ 16

Then since Perimeter is just length² simply take the square root:

sqrt (length²) = sqrt (a² ÷ 16)
length = a ÷ 4

Then Perimeter × 4 = (a ÷ 4) × 4 = a

It makes sense cause (a/4)^2 is the area of one square so one side is a/4

Just assume a=4. Got surface area=6, which means the area of one face is 1 and the side is 1. Thus perimeter is 1*4=4, which is a. Assuming a value will make the deduction easier

I was about to solve the question but then I realized I finished my mathematics exam with good performance _exits video_

This question is not actually testing your mathematical ability but rather how much care and attention you show or if you just rush. Note how many people see how easy it is and just in error, rushing and careless choose the first option (side length) and move on.

So it's less of a math question and more of a question about human characteristics.

6(a/4)² since we want one side we can remove the 6. So now it's (a/4)², then to find one side we find the square root of it. So now it's a/4, then to find the perimeter we multiply one side by 4 so the answer is a :)

Basically it is testing terminology and applying it. The calculations are simple.
