5 Tips I Learnt Collecting Sneakers

Collecting sneakers over the years, I've learnt a few things when it comes to building it. If you're new to building a sneaker collection today I'm going over a few tips that have helped me out.

Totally agree with all these tips. One thing to add that I’m trying to stick to myself: decide on the maximum number of pairs in the collection. Once that number is hit, if something new comes in, something has to go out. This is especially useful when one is on a tight sneaker budget, and/or living in a relatively small house or apartment.

At first: Thanks for your content, you doing a great job of entertaining. keep up the good work! I would like to share some things I have during my time of collecting sneakers: 1. investment into some good shoetrees (wood with a good stretch) is worth it to keep the shape of your sneakers. you got different materials which will react different when temperatures change. this can lead to distortions. 2. control of temperature and humidity. temp should be max 17°C. it will prevent moving of the softener in the rubber which will keep the sole in a soft condition for a longer period. the temp should also not getting to deep (molding) 3. Shut down any UV light influences in your sneaker room. It will slow down yellowing and aging a lot. use artificial light. 4. Keep your sneakers in a dust (and dirt) free environment (boxes e.g.). this will help keeping the sneakers in a brand new condition for longer period and the materials suffer less. 5. If you store your shoes acc. to 1-4 then Ventilate your shoes regularly (e.g. once every 6-12 month for like 24 hrs.) and store them again after this procedure. 6. wear your shoes regularly. some foam tend to crumble after a specific period. we all know that. the moisture in the air will be locked into the foams tiny little bubbles and will not move out. this will lead to crumbling after ten years+. you can extend this effect by wearing your shoes from time to time for a couple of hours. you will "press" the moisture out of the foam sole while walking which will prevent the aforementioned effect (at least slow down). also the heat of your foot activates the glue again which will prevent falling apart for a longer period. after all that being said the sad thing is that you can only slow down the effect of falling apart. in the end noting last forever. this also applies to shoes. sadly. keep it up and show us your collection in a special video. regards from Germany. While the Lack shoe display looks dope. It’s not practical because of sunlight exposure could ruin colour, shoe odour stinks up the room, and dust coating your shoes depending on how frequently you wear them all.

Its been the same for me too. I've moved around my whole life and am now living in a place the longest I've lived anywhere. I've finally been able to start building a collection. It helps having a good job with quarterly profit sharing. So most my money goes into streetwear and sneakers.
