King Charles and Queen Camilla will begin a six-day tour of Australia on Friday.

It's his first visit to the Commonwealth realm since becoming their head of state and his biggest trip since his cancer diagnosis.

However, six major Australian politicians have reportedly snubbed a reception for the King and Queen.

It's mostly due to scheduling conflicts, but royalists in the country have dubbed it a 'monumental insult' and a 'slap in the face'.

Meanwhile, anti-monarchists have called this the King's 'farewell tour' amid calls for Australia to become a republic.

This is a misdirect. It is not so much that Australia or any country wants to leave the Commonwealth, It is that countries are no loner interested in having the british king as their head of state.

It's not about the Commonwealth, it's about him being head of state for some of those countries. That's the issue. Charles didn't automatically become the head of the Commonwealth, the Queen has to ask the countries if he could continue on his behalf. Again the issue is him being the Head of State for about 14 of them, including my country, Canada.

Changing the narrative again, Aussies don't want to necessarily leave the commonwealth, they want the UK monarch not to be the head of state. The media is using common wealth because there is more positive talking points that don't make King Charles look bad

Owen skirts the point that it is an VOLUNTARY org, which you could keave anytime if you feel so bad about the British Empire. And new members did not even ‘suffer’ under the British like Rwanda or Mozambique.

Owen - Ireland was part of the United Kingdom in the 19th century, not a colony. They chose to join the union. They even elected MPs to the UK parliament. They also participated in many of the good and bad things that the British Empire did.
