great comparison as always... it will be good to keep the moving subjects test though, as you sometimes do... most reviewers don't do it and it is a good one to have :)

The Pixel's colors, dynamic range and detail is great, but I like the contrast gradients on the iPhone better. It looks less artificial. I think Google is focusing too much on artificial things lately instead of improving things that are natural. That said, I'll still take the pixel because it's far easier to adjust contrast in post, than it is to bring out lost details or overhaul the color palette.

this is the first time in 7 years that im not going to pick up a pixel phone.i dont see substantial upgrades over pixel 7 pro, i dont like the front camera, ints oversharpened too contrasty and overal midrange quality, mail camera is ok for regular photos not great though, portraits are a hit and miss, i dont like that it doesnt have a regular 1x portrait, instead it goes 1.5x, 2x... too little of a difference no portraits on 5x (you can add blur after the fact but it looks artificial, and too fussy because you have to go through 1 by 1 and fix the blur, cause theres no way to copy edits from one picture to another like on iphone) videos are a hit or miss, cinematic mode is blah compared to iphone and samsung) anyways, went for iphone 15 pro max, and my android device is still pixel 7 pro, ill change it to xiaomi 14 pro or galaxy ultra 24 when they come out this time around.ill consider pixel 9 if they fix the contrast, oversharpening, portrait, and lagg issues.

There is one test that no one does, but probably you could 😉 it's how microphones handle loud sound, for example on live concerts. In Germany there are so many cool bands, so probably you could take on such event all actual smartphones and make that comparison 🙂

Loving the pixel 8 pro! Contrast is great and but great in some pics. Video definitely goes to the iPhone.

I disagree with the too much contrast comment about the Pixel. I think the iPhone is a bit flat and skin appears too red.

The problem is iphone always has higher iso due to people are buying the iphone who is not interested in phographing so they rather have higher iso then ghosting.

No idea what is wrong with your pictures, how can you get such poor results with 2 great camera phones? Yes, the selfie camera of the Pixel is not on par with competition (overly contrasty). But for example my 5x zoom portrait shots on the Pixel look so nice! BTW It is a one click edit to turn apply portrait mode to your Pixels shot after capturing. Also I have seen great portrait shots from the 15 PM as well. Both those shots look so blurry!

my God. pixel camera is very contrasty. what happened? so is its front facing camera. very bad. but with updates, i believe it will be fixed. so far as what im seeing my pixel 6 base model is even better.

Damn, look at your lips, they look completely dark. Hopefully google fix this and the underexposed look in portraits but I think they will not... As they didnt before in other phones. Sad.
