Love seeing the Pixel get better every year. I am seeing more and more of them in public now.

I've owned every pixel. From what I remember, this might be MKBHD's most positive Pixel review in a while.

I also like the little things Google pixel does. I just flew and 24 hours before my flight Google reminded me of it. Not only did it remind me of it, it told me when to leave to arrive at the flight and what gate my flight was on. When I landed it told me what number carousel my bags were coming out. It's the smartness of this phone. The little things that it does. The voice to text is almost perfect. I use it every single day. The pixel makes my life easier. due to the small enhancements that you don't realize you need until you live without it.

I think the only thats stopping me from switching from my 4xl is the radar feature. The ability to just immediately unlock as soon as you pick it up is super underrated, it has stopped receiving updates now though and the 6 years of support for the 8 is tempting

I know it won't come back but I really do miss the old rear fingerprint reader on older Pixels. It always felt so responsive and straightforward. It feels like the one piece of the puzzle that would make this phone perfect to me.

Coming from a 6yr old phone, the Pixel 8 feels insanely fast and responsive. Decent price and extremely simple OS. I'm in love.

Wow! I was really surprised. You are a tough reviewer. You are fair, objective and you don't play favorites. If there is even the slightest problem, you will let us know. Even if it is a minor, under-the-hood techie issue that most people wouldn't even notice. So, when I saw this, I was shocked. If you like it, then it really is good. I have ordered the phone. Thank for taking the time to do this.

I am liking the amount of advancement and refinements Pixel series has been doing. I have been using my pixel 6 past two years and so far it has been a great phone that is just as fast as when I got it (small bugs here and there rarely). I am looking forward to what the pixel 9 will look like when I am ready to upgrade next year.

My wife just got hers in the blue, really jealous but I'm still loving the Fold. It's by far the most complete foldable phone, the screen size is so great to the point I'd love shorter phones with closer to 16:9 even without the fold!

You are the most popular tech reviewer for a good reason. This video should be studied by other reviewers as the golden standard. Fast, entertaining, every bit of info matters but is still easily digestible, you mentioned the things people find practically important while still also giving all the technical mumbojumbo. You highlight positives and negatives. Perfect.

Who wishes LG came back to the phone game under a new name?

Only one physical sim is a really important omission if you travel!! Many apps like Google send you messages asking you to confirm if it is you, banking apps constantly send you 2-factor security codes if you use your card, and all to your main registered number. So you need to keep your main number active when abroad, which means that's your physical Sim slot used up. Not all UK carriers use eSims yet and certainly they are not always available in some foreign countries. And anyone who has bought an eSim for abroad knows that the eSim set-up process is not always reliable (with no refunds), that it can involve 20 or 30 steps to set it up properly so no stick it in and off you go for tech-phobes, that support for eSims is non-existent if you have a problem and it is more expensive than picking up a physical Sim. Phones with the capability for 2 physical Sims plus eSims have got it right. That excludes Pixels. And seriously, a temp sensor on your phone is just EMBARRASSING!

WoW thanks for a great review. I stick to my 7 pro for another year, but the 8 looks like an amazing improvement again .
One point of criticism: I have my 7 pro 11 months now, after 6 months it seems to drain the battery faster and getting hotter while charging. But then after an update, I think in June/July, the battery life has improved soo much and it didn't get hot while charging....very weird, but I'm happy. The battery life has definitely improved soo much !
Thx.

As someone who works in AI, it's really cool to see how capable the phones are becoming!

Google is doing a lot of great things with the Pixel phones these days. Hopefully they can continue to make incremental, meaningful improvements consistently over time and win over the masses. I'll probably stick with my Pixel 7 and wait for the 9, but man, I hope these phones do well!

Love your videos. One nice thing I'd like to see is some small explanation of common tech phrases and acronyms for those who are not "in the know." E.g.- LTPO or nits. This would be for those of us that have pause the video 3 or 4 times just to Google things that you are talking about.

7 years of software updates does sound really great, my #1 concern however is in the durability of the phone. My personal experiences with the pixel 7 longevity have been really bad with the screen pretty much falling off the phone and that makes me quite concerned about the 8 as well. It is not a one time issue either as I have gotten a brand new pixel 7 multiple times through warranty and eventually switched off it now and got a samsung phone. From talking to third party repair shops it seems it is a common issue and they blame the way the phone is mounted, the glue used and the manufacturer that google has decided to use (at least the ones that come to norway). It really is unfortunate because almost everything else about pixel phones is incredible, but having the screen fall not even 2 months after I get a brand new one is really not pleasant and completely turns me off ever getting a pixel again unless I know that issue is fixed in a newer model.
