I'm like the only person in the world that does not play games on my smartphone regardless on what smartphone I have. That's just never been my thing.

Decided to go for the pixel for the smoothness mostly and so happy so far but we'll see if it performs well in the battery and overheating areas. I got tired of samsung's frame drops and laggy UI. The only thing I'd complain about is that I let some apps open at night and went to sleep and the next day most of them were completely closed for some reason when it should've held them open in the background, I don't know why it did that, maybe it was to save battery but it was suspicious. Normally it doesn't do it but it happened, we'll see in the coming weeks

Great device test video as always. I like your unbiased view/opinion on devices and you call out a device when it performs better than the other. It is interesting that iPhone 15 Pro's CPU is much faster in benchmarking apps however in day to day activities difference is minuscule. Couple of days ago I received my Pixel 8 and set it up. I like the size of the device, feel in the hand and the fact that it is running an Android which was tweaked by Google. My Geek bench 6 score was 1556 for single-core and 3729 for multi. Device is barely warm.

As a fan of both iPhone and Pixel, i find myself enjoying the Pixel setup more because of all the cool and useful features. I also like how you can customize your photos more with Pixels. Then i just prefer the widgets on android and the always on display. Apple may have the more powerful chips but in real world experience I've noticed Pixels seem to be faster at opening apps where iOS tends to feel slower. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference but for me iOS just lacks innovation and the OS is a bit boring in 2023.

You should include a network test, preferable both wireless and cellular data to spot modem differences. In addition to call and call quality, network performance is an important one among users.

iPhone 15 is a bit older than the Pixel. I say with a few updates, the Pixel will do more wonders.

Yes, the Pixel loads slightly quicker in "some" apps...but then when you go to scroll it's a lagfest. The speed of a phone is not determined solely on how long it takes for an app to load, that's only one part of the OS's speed (a highly overrated one at that). The entire OS needs to feel smooth and responsive in many tasks and inside the apps themselves. Without using a phone for a few days, it's very hard to determine the overall speed of a device. Glossing over the scrolling choppiness as some "minor" detail is pretty nonsensical.

I think iOS is smoother in scrolling section becouse is slower, and pixel kind of laggy becouse its faster, although needs a litte optimization, Greetings nick, i love your videos.

The Tensor G3 is about 4500 geekbench. Sometimes scores bug on the Android version. Its still slower but 3600-4500 is a big difference.

Pixel 8 pro dropped battery from 69% to 62%
iPhone 15 pro max dropped from 66% to 60%

Pixel battery life seems improved from previous gen’s.

Already got the Pixel 8 Pro, i can confirm the scrolling can be choppy in a few apps. The worst is clearly the YouTube app, which is hilarious on a Google Phone, with Googles OS and a app from Google. Otherwise, its a great phone so far.

Overall great video! One correction: that “other 10% of devices” in 3D Mark is actually not the gaming phones. It’s the iPads with M1 and M2, and a couple Macs that have been tested with this benchmark enough times to log scores.

I don’t know why Google can’t seem to fixed the scrolling issues. I still have that issue with the 7 Pro.

You have a camera on your iPhone in the RAM memory, clear it from memory and launch it without cheating

Games that were optimized for tensor at the time were LOL wid rift, Stand off 2, of course COD and Apex legends being their developers stay on top of their games. It was actually a nice list of games. I can't remember them all. Most reviewers never even mentioned the optimized for tensor category in the play store.

I compared the OS launch speed on my 7pro and yours on video and it’s the same speed as the iPhone, even faster by a second in pixel

Great review! Honest breakdown. I’d say if you plan to keep the phone for 3 or more years, go iPhone. It will be performing well in 5 years just because the hardware is so much more powerful. At present, both are great.
