Thank you, I used an old 12” Hacksaw blade and it worked a treat. I found my missing 12” Rule I was given as an Apprentice, it’s been missing 10 years!

Thank you so much!! This helped immensely. Wasn't able to find any thin strips of metal, so, used a hacksaw blade and that worked.

Perfect Don. Great too when there's no excess chatter. RIGHT TO THE POINT. Thank you.

Don, Thanks for answering that age old question. Your recommendation of a slight bend in the metal piece is key. Thanks again. Bill

Great video and easy to understand. I wish all this luxury had existed in my younger days, but we did not have PC`s and no Youtube videos.

I was skeptical but this technique is money! I found one of those old-school bendable metal rulers with the cork on the back. I cut it in half lengthwise, removed the cork and BOOM it worked! Great video. Thanks.

Love. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I need to remove the bottom drawer to beef up the bottom. Shame Craftsman did not spend another 15$ to make the bottom stronger. And put decent wheels on them.

The reason they put the oblong hole there is so that you can push the tab in with a small tool and move the slide past the catch. I like your method, but the people who push the tab in are not doing it wrong. To quote the manual:

DRAWER REMOVAL:
• Fully extend the drawer. Push it back a quarter of
an inch.

• Insert a screwdriver into the slot in the slide and push
in on the stop until it clears the lance. Repeat the procedure on the other slide and remove the drawer.

• To reinstall the drawer, pry the stop far enough out to engage the lance (if necessary) and push the drawer onto the slides until the stops pass over the lances

Great video, got me out of a jam. All I had around as a bendy metal strip was one of those pocket measuring tools from Harbor Freight, with the metal calibrated strip and the slider to slide up and down to take measurement. Slid the slider off and I was in business. I do note that the bend in the end of the strip is very important, I tried many times without it, and got it on the second try once I bent it. You do have to push pretty firmly to get it in there, though, it doesn't just slip right in when it is going the "right way".

Remember those old feeler gauges? The .015/.012 work real good for this! Thanks for the video :-)

Thank you Mr Brandt! I have two lower drawers that have something stuck behind them and working down by the floor makes for a big PIA. I know what to look for now. All the best for the coming season. Regards, Chris

Thanks for the tip! I just used this method and worked perfect. Used an old hacksaw blade and put a small bend in it.

Awesome! Thanks! I had all kinds of stuff behind the drawers like a corner putty knife, I don't know how that fit in there. I used a hacksaw blade, just bent the end to go over the lock tab. Afterwards, straightened the blade back out.

Thanks for the help! I realized on mine there is a black plastic piece that sticks out on the rail when fully extended, I pushed down on one side and up on the other and it will release the drawer. Mine is the 26 inch wide set that I just bought at Lowes.
