I've got a couple similar models that I also need to restore, and when I did the first one I spent a ton of time trying to make it perfect. It was a fun project and I learned a lot. However for the next ones, I am not going to try to make them perfect, but just good enough for shop use. Thanks for showing us that we don't have to shoot for showroom perfection. I'm not saying you didn't do a great job, but that I like the fact that you decided how much you wanted to put into the project and didn't fall into the rabbit hole of correcting every imperfection. Thanks for making entertaining and informative videos.

Pretty sure that's a late 70s early 80s top box. The emblem would be red around the Sears name. I have a matching 1971 top and bottom chest/cart I'm working on now. I'm trying to find original craftsman locks for it. I keep browsing eBay periodically. I had to drill originals out to get box open.
I recently just acquired a 1950-60s RemLine top box that I'll work on after the Craftsman. I need side handles for the RemLine.

Nice job. FYI for anyone restoring Craftsman tool chest that are red with grey drawers. The Rustoleum Sunrise Red is a near perfect match for the red color. Rustoleum Black Stainless Steel is also a very very close color to the dark grey. Don't be fooled by the word "black" on the spray can. I 've done 3 chests. Also did a work bench that had the color reversed { drawers were red and trim was grey} .I changed it around to match the chests.

Great job. Good ideas. I like the CLR de rust, clean up idea. Will do exactly that on the old one I hope to pick up this week. Use WD 40 and steel wool to brighten up the "beauty strips". haha 👍 I'm thinkin' that things from the 80's. Maybe 70's

If you painted the other top box the same colour it would all look uniform ..the two top boxes and two bottom boxes..plus the other top box looks quite faded anyhow...
