If you ask most people how long it takes the moon to revolve around the earth they would probably say a month or maybe 29 days?
In reality, there are two periods involved with the orbit of the Moon around the Earth.

Let's investigate!
The sidereal period is 27.3 and the moon is measured against stars.
The synodic period is 29.5 days and the moon is measured against the sun.

No one can see the moon everyday from a particlar location on earth. Atleast one day it will not be visible. That day is called no moon day when the sun light on moon can't be seen from the earth. It will be on the dark side of the moon. In other words on that day moon completes it lunar monthly travel around the earth. The sun and moon will be on same side from the earth.
