Finally, there are no cars left on Earth that Scotty can recommend

I can't remember a worse time to be an auto consumer. Yeah, we had some pretty crappy cars in the 80's and 90's, but they were fixable, and at a reasonable price. When I was 16, you could go out and buy a used car for $500, and most of the time the thing would run and get you to where you were going. With these new computers on wheels, these cars are basically useless once they reach a certain age. Nobody is going to spend the kind of money it takes to fix a car like that.

After all Scottie’s “don’t buy this car” videos, I’m convinced the only safe bet is a bicycle

Scotty, you're a national treasure. I wish there were more people like you giving it straight. You're one of the few people on YouTube content creators I want to meet and have a beer with. I watch your videos religiously and have learned a lot. Please keep these videos coming as long as humanly possible. Thanks.

If you want a Reliable Vehicle, it's simple :

1. Turn Off your Pride and Ego...
2. Look for a Good Mechanic to search and buy a Fair Priced Used in Good Condition 90s to mid 2000s Toyota or Honda, with parts available in your country.
3. Fix it gradually to restore it's former glory, maintain it properly, and enjoy it until you die, funny enough, it will definitely out live you!

Not only is the quality assurance dropping in modern cars but the real problem, in my opinion, is they have too much technology to ever be reliable and the maintenance costs are putting a new car out of the reach of most. Making it worse is you have no option, you cant get a manual, simple, non computer controlled everything car even if you wanted one.

Mazda is quickly becoming the best car company. I don't want another CVT ever, also don't want a turbo or hybrid. That leaves Mazda. They wanted $4K to rebuild my CVT with 80K, never again.

Warning! Do not buy a Toyota truck. I have less than 30k and had the transmission replaced twice.

I'm old and I remember buying a glass jar (about a quart) of real Carnuba liquid wax. Once a month after washing the 4 cars in our family I'd wax them all with that stuff, probably didn't need to do it once a month but I did. We had the best looking cars in the neighborhood. It was a brownish tan liquid that you shook before using. Easy to apply and easy to buff, wish it was still being made. I always bought it at NAPA Auto.

Most reliable car i've ever had? 2003 VW GTI VR6. Have it 22 years now as my daily driver. No major mechanical issues, no leaks, no oil burning, and original chains! Built like a German Panzer Tank!

Honda quality is great. Engine catching fire is the new entertainment feature they added to new vehicles.

Wouldn’t consider any other brands but Honda or Toyota except maybe Mazda. Other brands get recalled way more than them eg Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Nissan, Mopar. Honda and Toyota still rank high for a reason.
