Brown rice has low glycemic index, high fiber compared to white rice. If you can stick with brown rice, this is a wonderful option. However, white rice can be included as a part of your balanced diet in limited portions if it makes your journey less painful for long term sustainability. Quantity matters !

Hearing this is like music to our ears doctor. Whatever we eat, we need delicious white rice atleast once a day. It is true for every South Indian 😀

The switch from white to brown rice is also because brown rice is much closer to rice in it’s original consistency & to avoid all the additives that are added to polish it white. And as rice is a large portion of staple for South Indians, who knows what kind of diseases we may skip during our lifetime 😊

Thanking of my grandparents in heaven, they always ate all all the village in vellore ate brown rice, those days no polished rice . No one knew then that unpolished rice had thiamine in them, fibers and low glycemic index they never had any nerve issues, obesity, or any health issues. It’s humbling to go back to our roots. The lesson that we learn is that each and every aspect of life starting from eating growing up, taking care of people using spices in every dish, eating fresh brown vegetable most importantly, cooking daily of course “ pazyasaadam “ with leftover cooked rice that was eating with curd and a lemon pickle. Yummmm Thanks for this video. Is this made me think of my roots and appreciate my ancestors.

But the major difference between white and brown is that, white rice is simple carbs which digests faster which leads to sugar levels spike on the other hand brown rice is complex carbs which digest slower which doesn't cause sugar level spike as high as the white rice does.

This is such a good method. Because a lot of times, due to financial constraints, routine life disturbances it's hard to replace certain everyday food items. Also, one has to keep in mind that in a family of 3+ people, we can't cook seperately for everyone. So they key is TIME, QUANTITY AND EXERCISE..

As a diabetic I found clear difference of eating white and brown. Half the size of brown rice is enough than eating large qty of white rice. The digestive time also increases with brown rice. Don’t miss lead Dr PM
