GTA 4 physics are not exaggerated

The purpose of the video is to compare the inclination and suspension of the car in GTA 4 and in real life. I used tall cars because they inclinate the most, both in the game and in real life.

People say that this aspect is exaggerated in gta4, but I don't think so, because cars in real life are very difficult to drive and tip over a lot more.

This video is for you guys to take your conclusions, enjoy.

i think the people who say this dont understand how fast you usually drive in the game, if you drive at the speed of the NPCs you will see its less "exaggerated"

Fun fact: the "real life" test you see going on in the second half of the video actually has a crazy name. It's called the "moose test", and it's to determine the stability of the car if a driver has to swerve to prevent themselves from hitting a moose (or some other object in the middle of the road).

The unrealistic part about the GTA 4 physics isn't the amount of body roll, it's the amount of suspension travel. When pulling crazy maneuvers like that in real life, your wheels *do not* stay planted on the ground (as seen in all of the real life examples in this video). *That's* why it looks so ridiculous and exaggerated in GTA 4, because the body moves the correct amount, but all four of the vehicle's tires stay in contact with the road.

Okay, gonna drive into the nearest swing set

GTA 4 might be slightly overexaggerated, but at full turning radius while accelerating the cars tend to understeer and hold their suspension position while the real ones eventually lose traction and go on two wheels or flip. It was probably made that way for gameplay purposes since driving with a controller would make the cars a lot harder to handle with realistic physics. But GTA 5 made everything handle like a go kart with no body roll.

I love how realistic driving is in 4 compared to 5, you can truly feel the weight of the car.

I really loved drifting in gta 4. Could feel the weight transfer so it felt pretty solid with certain cars

If anything, they watered down the physics of GTA IV to keep the handling model accessible and entertaining.
It's still more fun to me than GTA 5's racing game esque handling model, which is a modified version of GTA IV handling.
It must have something to do with the way inertia works in GTA IV that makes it satisfying. But I will give credit to GTA 5 for making the handling model accessible to *every player.*

1:09 I had a feeling that this Citroën would flip over just by looking at it. The center of gravity is way too high for a tiny car.

Also, I like how this video's location is "Liberty City"

The GTA 4 physics made driving so much more fun and dynamic. Police chases were way more fun because crashing your car at high speeds had serious consequences. In GTA 5 you can bounce off anything and do frontflips off ramps

The handling for some vehicles was a bit of a challenge to learn, but once you got used to it, it was awesome. I specifically remember playing online using the Dukes and just beautifully drifting between dozens of cops that were after me without even scrapping them. So much fun

For SUVs and normal cars, this is true to an extent, but even cars that are supposed to be much stiffer like the Turismo or Infernus do this. Supercars are definitely not supposed to have that much body roll. It's definitely more or less exaggerated depending on the car.

Driving was an art in GTA 4. It made car chases in multiplayer so much more enjoyable as not everyone could chase you and chases were more realistic and not at 150mph in a tank.

I liked GTA IV's driving a lot. The soft body physics was awesome.
However, I did find that cars that would have stiff suspension in the real world (Banshee, Comet, Infernus, etc) still had a lot of suspension travel and consequently they felt oddly spongey and heavy

The difference is that in real life your wheels lift from the ground when you sway that much

Porque eu amo o gta 4:
1-A física é impressionante
2-os gráficos do jogo, as sombras, os reflexos, etc.(para um jogo de 2008 é uma coisa incrível)
3-Uma história interessante, com personagens marcantes e missões 10/10

I just finished my first playthrough of GTA IV, and I really enjoyed the driving in that game. Everything felt really responsive.

I just replayed GTA4 and loved the driving physics. They're tough but fair, and after you really get the hang of them you can pull off some epic shit and it's so satisfying.

Anyone who's ever driven a car knows that cars do not sway like wet noodles
