I wouldn’t buy a 4 year old an alcoholic drink, ‘cause they’re unlikely to get you one in return! (Hate someone who doesn’t ‘stand their round’!!!

The fact we are free to have a bet or drink in public blows the mind of someone from ‘the Land of the Free’ hmmm 🤔

It blows my mind that in the US you can be arrested for having a beer in your own home at age 20. Your own home, not even your parent's. Old enough to buy a house, vote, own a gun or drive, but not have a beer & watch TV

betting, drinking... yes the puritans left and went somewhere.

Brits are very patriotic, they just don't feel they have to show it everyday.

The armed forces swear allegiance to the monarch not to parliament.

Here in Germany we have a lot of kilometers on the Autobahn where there is absolutely no speed limit. And Do not think you are the fastest, there is always someone faster than you. In Berlin we have Pubs which only closed once during Covid, an the rest of the last 50years had stayed open 24h a day. From all of my European colleagues the English I always loved the most. They are funny, not too proud of themselves like the Spanisch or the French.I always liked Prince / King Charles. He speaks good German, not very good but good. I hope that England will have good luck with the new Government. Rgds from Germany

I find it strange that gambling is so regulated in the USA yet gun control isn’t

The Monarch is CROWNED at their CORONATION. Not Coronated.

The main political difference between the US and the UK is that the Westminster system doesn't allow lame-duck governments. A party is elected to form a government, not an individual to act as a reformed 17th century monarch. The Commons is the supreme legislative body, while the Lords can merely delay legislation. The UK Supreme Court consists of appellate judges rather than political stooges. I'd rather see a judge appointed on merit rather than political bias.

My parents grew me up the French way, giving me watered down wine with my meal from 5 years old, preventing me from seeing alcohol as an exciting taboo!
It’s Fruit Machine, no Fruity Machine! Lol

studies show young people introduced to drinking moderately in the home, with good parental role models are less likely to binge and more likely to develop moderate drinking habits.

I was always told the USA was the land of the free? that's obviously a crock.

You do still need to remember the difference between England and the U.K… and probably worth keeping in mind how Great Britain fits into all that!

Yanks are ultra religious compared to Britons.

Well done you. Your keenness to understand really shines through and you’re really understanding the subtleties.
Our dislike of people commenting on us is not blind defensiveness, it’s in our culture to be self-deprecating. It’s in our comedy, our banter etc, so we rip ourselves to shreds. We just feel we don’t need others to do it for us.
Keep shining lady.

When I was old enough to sit up at the table and eat Sunday Lunch properly (6 or seven?) my father would have a bottle of Stout with his lunch and I would be given a small glass (a couple of teaspoons). Learn not to fear it early.

You have exaggerated the role of the monarch in dissolving parliament. The Monarch accepts the advice of the Prime Minister. The King's Speech which sets out the Government's proposed program is actually dictated by the Prime Minister
