I dont think that using VPN is a fool proof solution for this problem, for example I've been using the steam mobile app throughout the last week to buy games and I did not get reverted, meanwhile others did get reverted even while using VPN

Want a funny part? I actually moved to Turkey 2 years ago and didn’t use Steam, few days ago I came back to a game on Steam and tried to make a purchase, and it wouldn’t let me switch to Turkey, leaving me on Italy where I don’t live anymore. This method does not provide 100% protection against returning to your home region.
I was in the region of Argentina, I bought from my wallet, I was switched back to Kazakhstan, I switched back to Argentina and was very careful, I used an Argentinean VPN, I paid with an Argentinean steam payment card. I was returned to my native region again.

There is a suspicion that they are looking at the phone number to which the account is linked. Either they check the funds and the steam wallet option is no longer safe if you are in a foreign region.

What I'm really interested in is whether it is possible to make this system itself return me to another region that is more interesting to me (Turkey, Argentina). But probably for this I need to be right there on the spot and own a local number and a bank account.

Hmm interesting but I don't think that it works like that. I used a good VPN (Nord) and my region still got changed, probably because I was marked and there is nothing I could do about it. (I also logged out all my other devices, and waited like 5 minutes).

Many users have reported that after changing their region again, they did not get reverted again.

My theory is, that if you casually used your Steam account for a long time on an IP that is not Argentina/Turkey, you got marked. They probably have statistics like "this account has been used for 98% of the time in France".

You can use the "Split tunneling" feature on many VPNs which makes only specific apps on your PC run on a VPN IP which could help avoid future marks, no guarantees though.

Guys he checked VPN on Ukrainian account which are not being reverted. If you have Argentina/Turkey, VPN gives you 0% guarantee that you will not be reverted.
