“What you are really purchasing is the feeling of getting a new game, not the actual game itself.”

This more than any sentence I have ever heard fully articulates most of my game purchases.

I love watching a video on how to buy games while currently being broke 😅

I'm 34 and I still feel like retrobird is somehow my parents telling me to be responsible with my money. This man is a national treasure.

One of the best things I've learned about game collecting is to not buy everything. The goal is a fun and curated collection of games that I'll actually play a whole lot.

You ever watch some of your favorite channels and just realize you’re not subscribed for some absolutely silly no good reason???

Fixed that wagon today!

I think “My wife thanks you” was one of the best lines I’ve heard on your videos. 😂 👍

I found a copy of silent hill 4 today at a Goodwill Bookstore for $2.99. Perfect condition, with booklet not even a smudge on the DVD. I haven't found a deal that good since 2018. The thing is, I went to that same store over and over for 5 years and found absolutely nothing. So when I found this prize today, I was absolutely jittery. It's finds like these that make the long hunts worth it.

The prices at flea markets, garage sales, pawn shops and maybe even local used videogame stores are typically negotiable especially if you are buying multiple items. Learn to haggle in a respectable manner and you can get better deals. Don't be afraid to walk away if it's a bad deal. Sometimes a seller will reconsider because some money is better than no money.

Ideally the best way to buy games is to wait for time machines to be invented (or at least wait for the government to admit they exist), then take one back to the times when your favorite console's games were cheap, then buy them up

This is one of your best episode by far. I really enjoyed it. Now I know you have tons and I watched a lot of your videos. But what I personally feel in this one is that you took all the good points that made your other videos great, and you threw them all into this one. Your jokes, your punch lines, your gimmicks, your skits, while still catering to your audience by giving them great information that is fun to watch. Keep it up. I know you work hard to get here.

My advise is to have patience and if you are a gamer buy disk only or cart only then use all the sources listed to complete in box the cart or disk only for cheap. I CIB so many games for way less than the listed price and is awesome! Good luck everyone...you never really finish collecting because is a way of life!

Perfect time to watch retrobird whilst eating a banana split.

Great point about rereleases...certain games I've had my eye on for years and NEVER thought they'd get one have popped up just in the last few months, like Time Gal and Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. It's honestly mind-boggling. If those games can get rereleased, anything can.

The “I celebrate the games I didn’t buy” hit so close to home lol. I’ve been taking a break on purchasing games and am trying to play through my back log. Not allowing myself to buy another one until April (my bday month). It feels like such an accomplishment to not buy a game at the end of the month lol. Silly I know.

I loved seeing you play Vectorman there. I havent thought about that game in literal decades, i remember my friend owned it and i thought it was the coolest thing ever.
As always, loved the video.

Dude, I wish more people adopt this mentality, the community has become way too focused on how much they have instead of what they've played and enjoyed. I like the idea of a "playable" collection. Who cares if you have Earthbound if you don't even like rpgs? Idk, there's a fine line between preservation and hording and I don't even think I know the difference yet.
