Last month, the Supreme Court of the U.S. announced they will hear challenges to the admission policies from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and Harvard University in its next term.

We are revisiting this similar topic from October 2018, titled Harvard Admissions and Affirmative Action. Along with some previous guests and new perspectives about controversies about race and discrimination surrounding the lawsuits brought forward by anti-affirmative action groups, including Students for Fair Admissions.

Across the country, other colleges and universities are watching how these events may unfold when this case is heard, and how the Supreme Court’s conservative majority may deliberate. The case, will soon be in the Supreme Courts hands, where they will decide if the admissions process is discriminatory, placing affirmative action in limbo. What are the implications of doing away with affirmation action in education? And how will college campuses diversify their schools to represent a diverse student body without it?

Host Callie Crossley will be joined by: Dr. Paul Watanabe, professor of political science and director for the Institute for Asian American Studies at UMass Boston; Dr. Natasha Warikoo, professor of sociology at Tufts University; Jessica Lewis, staff attorney at the ACLU of Massachusetts; and Bethany Li, senior attorney and director of the Asian Outreach Unit at Greater Boston Legal Services

A person race shouldn't be a factor in anything. PERIOD

There are really two separate groups of White students, those benefitting from Legacy/Athletic/Donor status and those who don't. Harvard discriminates in favor of the former but discriminates heavily against the latter and Asian students not in those categories. This is really not fair and really needs to be addressed.

How to address this issue. When the committee is looking at qualified candidates for admission, remove the name, address, and high- school. Thus, it will truly will be anonymous and based on pure merit. Race is removed. As the lady stated based on the name one can usually determine what race a person is. Also, based on location and school one can determine with a great of degree of certainty the race of a person.

Being racist for eliminating racism is like pouring gas into fire for putting out fire. Affirmation Action works in promoting unqualified candidates and kicking out qualified ones.

These Asian American professors are not interested in equality under the law but rather the supremacy of a certain political ideology. It's clear that Harvard has discriminated against Asian Americans based on racial stereotypes. The prejudices of the bigots at harvard have used the race of the student against the student. All supporters of affirmitive action have stated that Asian Americans are "over-represented" in academia. This implies that Asian Americans have exceeded the representation of their population which only indicates that there was a quota in place. Can you imagine if such an accusation was placed on the African American community in relation to sports?

The host does an incredible job! Usually, when watching a show, any show, it becomes apparent quite fast what the host's opinions are. She is completely fair and very professional. She doesn't push her opinion on the viewer. I am now five minutes into the video and still do not know her take on affirmative action. Amazing job!

Planet earth has one race the human race. So much for educated individuals . Discrimination based upon skin pigmentation or ethnicity. Even the supreme Court of the United States has been taken in by this lack of understanding as to what word race means. If you don't know what your discussion is about how the h??l can you make a reasonable solution to the I'm speaking about those educated supreme Court🤭😁 justices, legislators, other politicians with self-serving re-election REHTORIC to keep their cushy well paid jobs.
