If you really care about students' background and real difficulties they had to overcome why not look at their familie's socioeconomic status. Who had it harder Lebron's sons or obama's daughter or an asian immigrant factory worker's child?

I am not American but if white women are the major beneficiaries affirmative action in Harvard why are African Americans the target of you concern I also read about the role of legacies which is 25-33% of the intake

Why isn’t there talk and pushback about legacy students? Aren’t they taking spots of deserving, higher performing students??? Or is not okay to talk about them and blame students from underprivileged environments?

Harvard and Ivy League Universities: do away with (1) legacy admissions: (2) athletic admissions; and, (3) donation admissions

Employers have referred to me as their "slave" when I was younger which I believe should negate any interest I have in the issue of Blacks and Affirmative Action. Even if they are discriminated against and discrimination is happening even as we speak, being told I'm a slave makes me realize I have to take care of myself and causes me to understand that nobody really cares about me.

What I believe, is that Harvard and leagues like this, pride themselves on continuing their legacy by accepting the rich, and accepting those who parents attend before them, then they pride themselves on having the smartest. That brings on this elitist mentality that only the prestigious attend. I’m sure 50 some odd years back, they were more focused on having whites when segregation laws were prevalent, but here in 2023, I would think this could be considered, but not as valued as what I already stated. We are not mind readers - we cannot know the reasons you were denied entry. They have the right to selection. We may not find it fair, but it’s how these schools operate. I’m sure if they did so choose to remove race off an application, then people could stop assuming they were not accepted due to the color of their skin. Still, that won’t change your interactions with individuals on campus, as each human has the right to their own opinions, and if they want to be a trash person, you cannot control them.

Put this energy into legacies who make up more than 30% and not the 3% who are black.

Make all majors great again, except gender studies. Time to end those classes immediately.

The fact that his first concern is that affirmative action undermines black students feelings, and his second issue is there are Asians being discriminated against, tells you that there is a preferred race in American culture. The second issue is what brought the lawsuit and not Black students feelings.

But justices want special treatment by getting paydays and all inclusive the donor brings up a case before the supreme court! Funny how that works!😂

You should go ask UCB students. I'm sure they will furiously tell you how AA caused them to be barely rejected by Harvard

Imagine if the Hebrew slaves or any of the ancestors of any slaves in history which really is like 90 % of the human race uses slavery as an excuse for their failures.

YES let's make all ivy league schools Asian and let them run the country, rather than those that helped build this country!!
