Since they can shut it down your shop at anytime I wouldn't trust them considering they wouldn't tell you why they shut it down in the first place.

We were this close to opening our etsy store when we started hearing people with this exact story, going to find a different home for our stuff.

I was actually thinking about using etsy, but I’m definitely not now... Stuff like this is a sign of a company having much bigger issues than you would think. Especially with the whole “please stop calling us” thing. I’m still not sure I understand that lol.

The fact that they shut down your shop without notice, wouldn't explain the problem, or allow you to dispute it in any way, makes it pretty clear they are not a company anyone should do business with.

Notify all of your etsy customers that you moved to a new website and that your closing your etsy shop because of what they did.

I suspect your YouTube following and social media presence is the only reason somebody looked into this issue and rectified it. If this was just some Joe user account they probably would have had no recourse whatsoever and lost all the work they put into it.
It's a shame but this is how most of these services and also social media platforms function. They have all the power and everything's fine until it's not.
Having the user base you have, you're better off running your own site as you have done then relying on somebody else. It's again, the smaller people trying to start out that need these types of services to get the exposure and site traffic.

Etsy really needs to work on their transparency. They have this 'we are too big to fail' atitude, however without sellers like us they can absolutely fail. I received a copyright violation before, and while the item was created by a digital artist, it was so good it was flagged and taken offline. There was very little information I could find out as to why. So a similar organizational approach. It's almost like they have a belief that providing more details may open them up to litigation, that's the only theory I have. Thanks for sharing your story though, just a reminder to all Etsy sellers (including myself), not to have all our eggs in one basket.

Been 3d printing for almost 3 years on Etsy. Your right. Its ran by morons lol. I've seen stores that straight up just go to the store and buy stuff at overstock prices and then re-sell it. On a "hand made" site. I report them nothing. I see bootleg video games sold. report. Nothing.... Then I see stores like myself and yours that sell stuff they make or model and they get shut down for "violations". I just don't get this platform anymore man.

I've gotten numerous comments on my channel asking if I make and sell the projects I film. I was thinking about starting an etsy shop to start selling them, but after seeing everything they put you and so many others through I will be avoiding them like the plague!
