$64000 question…if Etsy can program the bot to do a sweep of mock up photos that look too similar….why can they not program the bot to do a sweep of the words “Disney” etc and get rid of the junk.

I had a mockup store...bought the shirts/sweatshirts, shot my daughter wearing them. I am a pro photographer, sponsored by Sony, and everything was legit. I know copyright rules, I understand as I have shot stock for years, and yet I was unexpectedly suspended for months for no reason. I lost momentum and closed that store. Etsy is so weird. They reinstated months later, but I just lost confidence. I do have a successful digital graphics store too, but Etsy is so volatile. That said, I might just buy more shirts and styles and re-do it as a winter project.

Etsy does not care about your shops. I was forced to close my shop after a Chinese company stole every image from my photo shop, over 1000 listings, started selling them on their stuff and then accused me of copyright infringement even though I had been a seller since 2008 vs their 2015. They sided with them. Lesson learned.

What is really laughable is that Etsy quickly shuts down so many shops for (according to the owners) "no reason at all." And yet. Etsy continues to tolerate and NOT shut down shops with ridiculously obvious trademark and intellectual property violations. I'm talking Nike, Disney, Coca-Cola. I will never, ever claim to be as smart as a corporate attorney, but it is really, really difficult to understand why they do not tolerate the unexplainable but tolerate the explainable. 😂

Etsy and eBay were both great in earlier years. What ruins them: Consultants, MBAs, being too big?

We need to file a class action lawsuit. This is insane.

Just imagine how this could be so much better if Etsy only had basic communication skills.

In my opinion, Ai is okay to do as long as it represents what you are selling. Making sure they are accurate with the item and not putting a round neck shirt mock when you're really selling a v-neck shirt on Esty. Now, bc of this issue they're probably going have an issue later on in general w Ai. Probably!

Thank you! I wonder if it would be considered original to create our own mock-ups by just getting blacks and then adding graphics as we would when buying the mock-ups. Hope that makes sense!

Warning? For a “violation”? Hahahaha! New store here, temp suspended… don’t have a clue why. Now I’m perm suspended awaiting a non-transparent appeal. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve talked with other YouTubers and we mostly agree that Etsy should have sent out a mass warning and give proper communication and a grace period of some sort. Especially if they just caught on now.

Except that the Etsy rules say that the pics for print on demand must be the production partner pics if they aren’t actual photos. So unless Etsy tells us those other mock-ups are okay we are at risk if we use them. Where is Etsy? Silence.

I think it's about people buying crap from China and reselling it, using the Chinese website pictures.

I think it's the AI mockups and the non-product-matching mockups like from Placeit. And that's great advice to reach out to the mockup shop. I have done so wiht a couple of shops. Now I can tell an AI generated mockup at a glance though. They all look like they use similar-looking "models" and the fabric, especially the ribbing around the neckline, has zero texture.

I have heard shops getting shut down without any warnings. I have not been listings and I am waiting watching what unfolds. I am still selling.

Before this all came out as a new seller I was of course looking at top stores reviews ect, what I was noticing is during busy seasons ect people were leaving review of mock ups showing a Gildan for example and they get a generic shirt ect ect I'm thinking this could be a major issue w it. W printify doing the auto fulfillment for whoever has in stock ect. Would deff make sense being it's a totally diff shirt people are receiving w some orders.

What is the name of your wife's etsy shop? Would love to see what she is selling and what you refer to. I am not one of your competitors!

Thank you, they wanted video, so Canva helps you do that. But if they want you to do something different, I am still trying to figure out what is ok and what is not. Thank you for information you provide. 😊

The policy is that the seller must actually photograph the actual item or use mock ups provided by the production partner. There's no line to ride. Using any other mock-up source is not permitted. Etsy has been letting POD sellers slide ever since Etsy allowed POD, but the policy has always been and remains the same. There's no change in policy to notify us about. Etsy is simply enforcing the existing policy.

"If an item is created with production assistance, the listing’s photos should be of the finished product or an image supplied by the production partner that accurately depicts the item the buyer will be receiving."
