Back in 2000 I was working for a VP at an Internet company in Washington state when my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. That VP got a policy change pushed thru so I could fly down to Florida and work from my parent’s place one week a month to help out with things and ‘close the books’ with Dad. This simple act of kindness meant so much to me, even now I choke up thinking about it. I would work for that man again any time, any place doing anything he needed. I’ve spent the rest of my career trying to emulate his character & empathy.

@NealFoard

Neal. I'm sure you get lots of mail and comments. I want to say... I look forward to your videos SO much. Our 19yr old son died in 2020 by taking his own life. It's so hard to understand. To comprehend. Sometimes it's difficult to find the good in life again.

I watch your videos to hear about the guys that helped you and your dad fix your car. Sweaty watermelon unloading. Homemade fried chicken. The dad that watched the baseball games from his car for years.

My wife and I tell each other every time a new video arrives. We sit together on our bed and watch (and rewatch) each video. Sometimes to tears. Sometimes to laughter. Often to both. Thank you.

Please don't stop.

That's amazing leadership. A very, exceedingly rare, quality.
That's not just power, it's respect.

This one got to me - there was a leader that made the biggest difference for me in my career and really my life as a mentor. He passed away in a tragic accident about a year ago. He embodied everything that was described in this video. Those leaders are hard to find and so so valuable. I cherish the things I learned, the laughs we had and even the times when he was hard on me to help me grow. Thank you for sharing this message. Power can be such an amazing thing or the opposite. Every single role matters and when power is used for good, it can help people grow in ways that may never have been possible. The impact a single leader can have is truly amazing.

I love this story. It’s inspiring and you tell it so well. My favourite part: he calls your wife to tell her about the promotion and how valuable you are. Cheers!

Thank God you work for someone so caring. Rare but wonderful. More company's need to focus on their employees over profits. If your people are happy, they will be more productive.

Once more, wonderful! You were blessed with a mentor. In my life I've had very few, but the ones I've had helped me and are cherished in my heart. The "bosses" I've hated, and still avoid to this day, used people under them as stairs to stand on. May God send us more kind mentors.

I had a boss like this. It wasn't a monetary issue (although he did get me raises no "company man" did) but he validated my efforts to promote the company and products.
