The BEST 240Hz OLED

Just when you thought it was safe to close your eyes in satisfaction knowing 240Hz OLED monitors will be coming in 2023, ASUS announced their 27" 1440p 240Hz OLED PG27AQDM monitor.

What am I talking about, well it looks like we’re gonna have another option besides LG and MSI when it comes to the glorious 240Hz OLED standard, no it’s not gonna be a 4K model YET, but make sure you're subscribed, because I will be talking about some upcoming 4K OLEDs in the future.

No this is a mere 27” 1440p 240Hz OLED PG27AQDM from ASUS, but there are a few things that COULD be different when compared to the other options. Now this will likely be using the exact same panel used in the LG model and after speaking with LG while the good news is they are well aware customers want glossy OLED panels, unfortunately it looks like in 2023 it’s unlikely that LG will have any glossy manufacturing plants up and running,

Anyway with that out of the way it could still be a good monitor for many depending on how aggressive the finish is, and not only that, but on top of being among the fastest displays ever created, it ALSO COOOULD maybe be the brightest 27” OLED as HDTV test pointed out that it might include a heatsink. If so we could be talking about a panel using LGs newest EX OLED technology that MIGHT be capable of up to 200nits full screen and somewhere between 800 and 1000nits peak brightness. A large improvement over something like the LG C2.

All in all if your interested in a 240Hz OLED next year this will definitely be one to keep an eye on as it might be the best option.

This is my new favorite channel for my future display purchases besides HDTVTest. Clicked the bell for all future uploads.

While it's nice to dream about a 'perfect' display... more people just need to appreciate each displays strengths and weaknesses. I think the closest thing to a perfect display might have been a SED display. It used CRT display technology but almost as thin as LCD displays. Instead of a single Electron Gun to display an image, each individual pixel had an electron emitter with individual phosphors in front of it. This produced almost perfect blacks at like 100, 000:1 Contrast ratio. Plus response times even faster than OLED because there is no sample-and-hold lag that is inherent in all LCD-type displays. Sadly it was discontinued in favor of LCD technology and there has been no plans to continue development since at least 10 years ago. But with enough demand and people spreading the word, I think this type of display tech could be attempted again in the future. We can dream. ;)

When will this come out? Iv saved my pennies up for the alienware oled but I'm not really that impressed with it tbh

I’ve been waiting for something similar to it, but after looking at rumors and leaks, I decided to go with Alienwares QDOled, who knew widescreen would be amazing 😅. But sadly it needs DP 2.1 for higher refresh and 10 bit color.

This will be the best 240hz monitor for competitive gaming like Apex Legends PC right plus it has HDMI 2.1 if I want to get a PS5 this year?

It means we're closer to having a 27 inch qd-oled lmao

27" @ 2k is the perfect sweet spot. I would prefer 16:10 though all day long. People watching films on their screens have ruined it for everyone.

Funny how you showed the eve monitor when talked about glossy vs matte considering how they just announced that they’ll be making a glossy version of this 1440p oled panel. Which is going to be in shipping july…2025

Maybe future OLED should be beyond this, I am hoping for 15-25 inch OLED screens as well, for hardcore esports players. They want frame rate and motion clarity at the best. Unlike esports E-TN panel, which has response time of 0.5ms, and bad color reproduction and viewing angle, OLED should be in best of both worlds! Maybe you can still get esports 360-500Hz refresh rate once technology improved on OLED panels, but still true black high contrast HDR with 100% DCI-P3 coverage. We know they have even faster response time of up to 0.05ms, it is even 10x faster than best TN panel! Thus, better motion clarity. 1080p is not dead! So such prospective 1080p OLED panel would eventually replace most gaming monitors on Steam survey: 1080p!

whats the difference between QD oled and just oled?

Really the only thing I like about LG oled over QD oled is the polarizer. I have LG c1, and the blacks are super deep because they have a polarizer. The QD oled monitors don’t have one, so the black aren’t as dark in day light. Not sure how brightness will hold up with these monitors tho.

Looking forward to 16:9 flat OLED PC Monitors at 27 inches, even though it would maybe better if the panel technology was QD-OLED instead. As I understand it the QD-OLED technology could be a better choice than OLED when it comes to burn-in, but I suppose that it's not that big of an issue now since OLED panels now are made for PC use.

Kind of want this and a 4k min-led. Or wait for the 32 inch flat oled 4k and get high refresh 1440p mini-led. Hard to decide since most of the time they’re announcing these things a year before they hit the market.

Why they can not make 500 hz or 1000 hz oled ? Because they can not be bright enough with this low persistance, other wise pixels burn very fast even with display cooling. 1000 hz monitor is more likly will be microled with good cooling.

I want a 240 hz 23 inch 1080p monitor so bad.

It doesnt exist!!! That's all I need for now! Please help! I dont care about resolution! I just care about it fitting next to my 2nd monitor and being a high refresh rate!

My ideal display configuration would be 32 inch 4k Glossy QD-OLED with a slight 1800R curve, HDR 1000 (400 True Black is okay though), HDMI 2.1, Display Port 2.1 and at least 120 Hz refresh (okay, maybe 144 Hz). Actually, I wish they would bring back 3D as well (on the OLED C6 the 3D was beautiful). Thanks for the video, this monitor looks nice.

Had 2 Asus monitors. Never again. Specs only tell you one story. The user experience is absolutely terrible. Asus literally doesn't know how to make a display interface. It will just not work at random (no it's not the cable) and say "no signal". The amount of times I had to cut power and pull out the display cable which is a know fix made me want to throw this Asus trash out the window. Also BOTH monitors have this issue. Luckily one doesn't exist anymore because it died while trying to remove the AG coating and I really can't say I miss it.

Above all stay away from Dough (Eve Devices) they are a scam if you're new to this. Took them 6 months to refund me and I'm one of the incredibly lucky ones as others are waiting for 5+ years.
