Hi my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent come from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I will only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people will consider this the lowers time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After, trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I are have been living full-time in my self convert van.

What about having the passenger seat swivel and have a desk that pulls out or folds up. That would be very comfortable and you wouldn’t have to redo the whole inside.

Make a cushion on the fridge for a seat, then have a folding wooden TV tray for table and desk. Easy peasy.

Put the freezer on wheels under ur bed. Or create a fold up table and chair that fits over ur fridge

Whether it’s intentional or not, I love that you chase waterfalls! ❤

If you take your passenger front seat and put a swivel on it and put a lagoon table right there, you would have another seating spot facing your living space and then you'd have your table too

I vote for swivel seat and some type of table. Great video.

As for a catio for Kelly. I have two ideas.
One is... put up a piece of vertical board behind the passenger seat, then secure a horizontal shelf that would be on the top of the vertical board..
OR... At the end of your bed, put up a small cabinet (that fits under the window, ) to put your notebooks in. But.... Kelly can climb on top of it and be able to get sun or a view out of the window.

Make a new set up like you had before. Where your fridge is - use it as your seat and make another table on a post or get a lagun table top, something you can fold out of your way. You have got this Emi 😊 have a great day!

Maybe get swivel seats at the front with a Laguna table attachment

Put a big cushion on the fridge freezer and sit on it. Buy a camping folding table. You could use it outside and inside. You can put it away when you don’t need it. Even a tv tray would work. You could probably find a used on at a garage sale or Goodwill.

Your cat is so cute! I wish I could have a cat with me while I'm living in my Honda Accord sedan. Great video. 🎉

Build a seat over fridge n a lagoon table style swivel out table maybe with a fold down or telescopic leg so it can be a good size n more stable

You're pretty adept with tools and design. I bet you come up with the perfect solution. I found myself bopping to your music. Don't recall doing that before. Love it!

In one of my utubers i watch he has the fridge on wheels n puts it under the bed n only brings out into walkway when needs it..u can raise ur bed a couple inches n do that in middle then add a bench n table set up by where fridge is sideways like a classmates desk n chair attached like at school..u can also double the table w a piano hinge to open up to double when u want more counter space which will reach over the main catlady door n put ur passenger seat as a swivel so some guest can sit at that side of table extended. Keep folded up when ur alone n still got one of ur doors to go out of. Many vanlifers n sprinters cover one door of the double door with a counter or sink usually. ❤

I love all the sounds water makes. I enjoy your snips of background music too. Thanks to you and Kelly for your cheerful videos. Don't forget to scan the lake for Ogopogo

6 years in a vehicle ... wow. I get how you want a comfy desk. :)

A desk with a slide out keyboard tray. It needs to sit high enough to fit over the fridge so you can open fridge doors. Shelves can be secured on the desk maybe? A nice stow away fold up chair would work for seating. 😸

Make your passenger seat swivel and then have a foldable table/desk. The kits to make that seat swivel aren't very expensive either.
