I would tell any entry level coder to not just code for one specialty. Broadened your horizons early on in your career. Try and learn every specialty if you could. I coded ophthalmology for 25 plus years and then the pandemic hit and I end up getting laid off after 33 years, and now I’m navigating all these other specialties coding for an Ambulatory Surgical Center who does a lot of everything. Don’t limit or sell yourself short!!!
