I agree with this guy's lawyer. Being homeless shouldn't be a contributing factor to keeping someone locked up on such a minor charge. State should be ashamed.

The judge was embarrassed because he was called out on his wrong decision to grant the bail request. Good on you public defender.

I've always liked this judge but on this one, I'm with the lawyer. Putting someone under bond to punish them for being homeless is cruel and unusual punishment.

The lawyer is right, it wasnt violent at all. The man was homeless and the man got treatment which is what should happen

I think the judge finally realized that it's ridiculous to jail someone for being homeless, but come on, the lawyer wasn't being unreasonable

See, Hurley is always being a smartass and Hurley knew A ) He would have a hard time holding a public defender in contempt B.) He would be reviewed for holding Ross on a $1000 for possession considering Federal law has required that drug possession/disorder cases must be resolved by providing defendant with treatment before requesting bail. Good job Miller, attorney at law.👍

Good for The Judge ultimately warehousing his ego and removing the bond he had just imposed! That lawyer was right! No one should be punished for simply being homeless alone.

It's the judge that's unprofessional for making homelessness a crime. Warehousing is exactly what it is. It would be different if he hadn't shown up for court, before, but that had never happened. Shame on the prosecutor, too, for bringing up this nonsense. It is a crime that we allow people to be homeless, anyway.

I really liked this one because I could empathize with the judge's point of view and the defense attorney's point of view. And it seems like the judge re-considered his decision and did the best thing for the defendant.
