How do you define a jogger vs a runner?

Here is my take....
Jog or jogger is used by people who don't run for fun or exercise.
Run or runner is used by those of us who run for fun or as exercise.
When both feet are off the ground at the same time we are doing both.

I am a proud jogger because you have to walk, jog, then run. This is so working for me. Ty Goku!

SAME SAME! Totally agree that it's interchangeable. Doesn't really matter to me if people call me a jogger or runner. My thought process is that I'm not doing it for them nor do I need their approval of what I'm doing so all in all it really doesn't matter to me what they think I'm doing or not doing (this kinda just goes for everything not just running).

Runner - Faster Pace
Jogger - Slower Pace

When one work it used to describe another work those two words eventually become interchangable to most people. I get called a jogger all the time. "Hey I saw you out jogging the other day" but I also her "Hey I saw you running the other day". To non runners you have to be going all out to be running. If not you are jogging. I love having both feet off the ground. I AM A RUNNER. LOL!

I like your post and how informative you were on heart rate and pace

My opinion is jogger is an outdated term and anyone using it over runner at this point is trying to pretty much down play someones "speed" to make themselves feel better about their own...OR they are a non runner who doesn't see the issue with word.

I never thought there was a difference because other than sprinters and relay racers I've never seen anyone running really fast otherwise. Another good video my friend. Smashed Like and stayed from start to finish.

The difference is supposedly set at a 10:00 minute mile. 10:01 and slower would be a job, 9:59 and under is a run. I don’t know what a 10:00 flat pace is.

I’m a runner, jogger, walker, death marcher, and sometimes just a pile of bone and flesh next to the trail for a few minutes. Sometimes all in the same run!!!

TRIGGERED!!! Just kidding. I agree with everyone including Google. I took jogging to be an outdated word denoting a slow gentle effort, with minimal exertion- whatever that pace is. However, I also think if your feet are off the ground, you're a runner, and the term is now sometimes used by other runners to try to differentiate fast vs slow runners, which is unhelpful at best.

I'm on health journey to lose 200 lbs, I'm down 125 lbs 😁 never been able to run even in my younger/most fit years. I'm on the 3rd week of the couch to 5K app. Some might call me a slow jogger, I have a shirt that says: I RUN 🐢 I'm slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut butter, BUT I RUN. It makes me smile and reminds me I'm being active instead of beating myself for my speed 😉

So what I would consider as a jog, is actually running because of my effort and heart rate. LOOK MA!!! IM A RUNNER!!!!

I’m a run walker so I’m a jogger. I don’t care what’s people call me.

I definitely agree with you. I am currently doing the maffetone method and consider my slow run days “jogging”. But, I do consider myself a “runner”. 👍

To jog - a gentle nudging of the system, so jogging = slightly slower than a running recovery pace but quicker than walking pace (but not racewalking pace)?

I understand what you are saying but I somewhat disagree. In the 70's jogging was seen as a weird thing to do and people would make fun of it. Now that running has become accepted as a legitimate sport, being called a jogger is offensive. It's all about the history.

I’m a professional jogger! Got to be a pro at something haha! No offense taken
