I took three college semesters of Nutrition in the ‘80s….today those same classes would be very different in its information as fact. Remember the Food Pyramid? Yeah. Where’d that get us? Millions if people with Metabolic Syndrome . Thank you US Government and all those lobbyist for the Wheat Industry.

Most nutritional scientist are not talking about protein as much as you tho, Peter is basically an influencer at this point.

But if you break down Protein, it’s all about Amino Acids.

Follow the calorie control method at your own peril. Hunger always wins.

The thermodynamics model is good for engineering, not so much for biochemistry since there are a lot of things going on that you will not account for properly.

The calorie in/calorie out obsession (along with the LDL myopic focus) has been a tragedy of cataclysmic proportions for the health of the overall population and their financial woes and Attia still promotes it.

Ok but more than all that what matters is doing the study on yourself. In your life you have plenty of time to try advise from any nutritional expert or what a possibly biased study funded by vested interests has found all that does not matter. Just try any diet whether vegan or carnivore or keto or mediterranean for 3 to 6 months or longer and see which gets you metabolically healthy . Ignore cholesterol from diet as most of it is genetic and besides your doc would put you on statin anyway. But if a diet raises your cholesterol but fixed your blood pressure and A1C and fasting insulin then that’s the best diet for you. That said you do have to adapt it to see if you can follow it for longer periods. If what diet you follow does. it make you hungry to eat often then that’s even better as it will allow you naturally to skip meals

How do you feel about the Carnivore Diet?

That's because they work in controlled conditions. In the wild no animal counts calories. They eat the food they are supposed to eat.

Cut carbs and sugar and you’re good to go. It’s not rocket science. Lost 50lb and kept it off. I’m a beast at 62.

Wouldn't fiber actually be up there on level with calories and protein? Fiber being something that's from bread and grain and cereal and fruit, etc., which generally counts (for many of these foods) for a significant part of one's daily protein intake, and being massively important for digestion and the G.I. tract. You could get all the calories and protein you needed from beef and potatoes, or spam and crackers, but you'd be extremely poor off for your bowels and vitamins.

.. and if your blood sugars are in a healthy range.. wait! I guess if the overall calories are not to high the blood sugars are going to be lower. Hmmm

Getting enough protein is not a matter of concern as long as you get your calories from natural and usual sources, may they be from plants (grains, beans, nuts or seed) or animal foods. The only populations getting enough calories suffering from a lack of protein are infants in west Africa who are weaned too early and who are mostly fed with cassava, a tuber very low in protein content. The US population gets the most protein in the world and is the sickest. The real nutrient of concern is fiber, which you only find in plants. The more fiber rich food you eat, the better. Plants want to kill you ? Population having the longest life in good health are the ones who eat the most plants. Keto, vegan, whatever your diet eat lots of greens, lots of beans (soaked and cooked so as to eliminate the lectins).
