This is almost exactly what I'm working on in our home. Adding new beams to split the joist span (currently 2x8s spanning nearly 16ft = bouncy floor). We don't have a sill plate holding the joists down to the block stem wall, so planning to raise the new beams just enough to contact all joists to stabilize everything, then will rip shims to attach to the tops of the joists where needed to level everything out. I'm wondering if I should have torn out the subfloor to start with instead of getting this far all from below the house... your method looks a whole lot easier.

Cedar shim? Hmmm, I would assume they would be too soft and would use oak or plastic shims

Is it possible to fix it this way for a 4th floor apartment ? And if so what's the cost? Thanks!

How much it cost my 30 feet tall townhouse has 2nd floor sagging. I am afraid it will be expensive.
