Here's a short demo showing how to keep flowing within cardinal directions.

Once set in motion, the rope doesn't change direction. Instead, we move our body "out of the way" to accommodate transitions. We allow the rope to complete its revolution, rather than fighting it and forcing it the change direction.

In practice, this means that Dragon Roll to Matador transition involves a quarter-turn. We pivot 90 degrees between East/West (DR) and North/South (Matador).

Adopting this principle solves most of beginner flow issues.
The benefits of cardinal flowing include:
1. Smoother transitions
2. Less stress on the shoulders and wrists
3. Better footwork
4. Avoiding getting hit by the rope
5. Avoiding loops and tangles in the rope
