I have to agree with the comment just below mine. I feel exactly the same! Your way is so neat, easy, and looks amazing! I was taught by my Grandmother as a child, it held in place, but the ends were always shorter or longer than the inner rows. Glad I kept looking for a good tutorial...FOUND IT!

I have visited many knitting sites, this one is the best, most concise and provides clear instructions

Nice job explaining this method of casting on, which has always intimidated me. I like the way you show the process several times, rather than showing it only once and expecting that to be sufficient. And, great tip on how to decide how long to make your tail! I bet you can use that method to see if you have enough yarn at the end of a ball to complete a row. Thank you!!!

I FINALLY UNDERSTOOD IT. I have been knitting years but did not know about long-tail cast on. It took me nearly 20 minutes and repeated replays but it finally clicked in my brain. This method gives me the most beautiful edge I have every had. I have never been pleased with the edges of my knit hats but now this edge will make them look much better. Thank you.

I spent a lot of time watching another video and couldn't understand why I wasn't getting it. I finally decided that perhaps the issue was the poor instruction and not me and so I went on to find and watch yours. I understood it right away and haven't looked back. Thanks so much.

I've made a lot of mistakes in just starting.  This is really helpful and breaks things right down in a way I've never seen before.  Thank-you.

Thanks so much for teaching an old dog new tricks.  For years I could never master knitting.  It was the only thing I couldn't get.  Books only added to my confusion.   My fingers definitely couldn't do the walking.  I never could knit my kids things but now I can knit something for my grandkids.  Your videos are the very best.

Awesome! Great instructions. Very clear, unlike other tutorials. And thank you for the suggestion to estimate the tail length.

Thank you for explaining that the tail is what is worked from. You are the first tutorial I've stumbled across to do this.

Thank you! Yours is the fifth video I have watched. It is by far the best and most informative of them all. Excellent step-by-step, and wonderful visuals. I especially appreciated the tips about the tail end and the working end, as well as showing what the yarn looks like along the needle. Some things that may seem obvious to long-time knitters are like hidden gems of knowledge to extreme beginners.

Thank you so much for repeating where the tail end vs working end is. It is a good pace.
