I really like this!! I think it would have been nice if RTD done this but then again he’d have to fit in the obligatory scene of telling the viewers who The Watcher is

I thought it was cool, but I think it did better with the Ood.
Something about it standing there gave it a very eerie and creepy appearance, yet also relaxing because this was a creature that the Doctor understood more than anyone else.

If Waters of Mars was a Moffatt episode, this is exactly what would have happened.

An excellent callback to this mysterious character. I feel like if they had gone this way, it would have been a serious fan service.

I Miss when Doctor Who made you feel scared and intense during these episodes

Fun fact: if you look carefully(not sure about this video but in the original episode it happens) on the left side of the screen, you can see the ood walk off screen even though it’s supposed to just disappear. It’s hard to see as he’s translucent and only happens for like half a second but it’s in the same bit we see the ood disappear

The watcher is such a cool creepy character. Would love them to come back! Great vid

This is awesome! I really hope they do a slight hint to something like this in Jodie's last story because they have the perfect opportunity to do it. Even if it's not a watcher, they could have a quick moment with one of the Demons from Demons of the Punjab.

Always pretended that the Amy that 11 saw at the end of Time Of The Doctor was the watcher cause I love that idea. Hadn't thought about Ood sigma

Funny thing is according to the wiki, the Watcher did appear just before 10’s regeneration in a short story called, “The Advent of Fear”

It's interesting that you chose this moment of the Doctor's life, which was later retconned as the incoming last regeneration of this cycle.
If they kept on with the original intentions of The Brain of Morbius, The Watcher would have indeed appeared on the supposed last regeneration, as 5+8=13.

Oh I love this. The only thing that would make it better is if the watcher's musical cue was used.

That would’ve been horrifying, beautiful and incredibly meaningful in an already important story.

As a 45 year fan of the show, this would have been marvelous to see. They really need to focus on bringing back mysterious characters from the classic series.

The Watcher was a holdover from the Third Doctors death. Abbot K'anpo Rimpoche was a Time Lord powerful enough to psychically create a solid independent living Tulpa - a psychically created entity, of his future regeneration Cho-Je. When the Third Doctor's regeneration needed a boost K'anpo gave him a psychic nudge to get it going. The next time the Doctor faced regeneration he manifested a less effective version of the same ability - but never again. The Watcher was a Tulpa.

I like to think the doctor sees the watcher every time he regenerates and that's why the fourth doctor wasn't wondering who the hell the watcher was

That would've made so much sense if the Doctor had seen the Watcher instead of an Ood!

Supposedly the tenth doctor did see the watcher before he regenerated, but that occurred at some point before this

Hey Paul RJ! This is very cool indeed what you did here, so great job well done, the editing was absolutely spot on! 👍🙂 The scene with Ood Sigma was also chilling to witness, but I do really love the idea of the Watcher appearing to the Doctor every time a regeneration is coming not just for when Four saw him. Like if the First Doctor was walking through the snow before he met the Twelfth Doctor and he had a vision of the Watcher in front of him, or when the Ninth Doctor carried Rose back to the TARDIS on Satellite Five, he saw the Watcher standing in the room before he closed the doors to leave. We saw the Watcher appear to the Doctor as a sign of his impending change during Logopolis of course, but if we see it again in the future (maybe for the centenary?) that would be pretty cool to lend credence to my theory.

The Watcher was a good plot device for 'Logopolis' which added to the mystery of that story.
