I am pretty sure that the Doctor just told them a bunch of super advanced Timelord science topics but there is no proper translation to english so the TARDIS translational matrix just makes us hear "Physics".
And that is why he hopes they were writting all that down.

If I could go back and choose my subjects again I would definitely choose physics just in hope that one day David tenant wound be my new teacher and start every lesson by saying physics multiple times in different tones.
