Bob's explanation about autonomous cars in China got me: "...then you don't see them. They go on a vacation for a very long time." 🤣

Bob is the perfect person, he regards every person equally, has no prejudice, is the perfect soul of non judgemental education. I'm also very drunk and am trying to type with double vision, but I believe Bob and Sandro should be the arbiters all human inventions

I’ve actually talked to an old gentleman who owned one of those amphibious cars. He said the main issue is that they aren’t really a car and they aren’t really a boat so you wind up never happy with them. Another thing about them is what my brother in law told me. He was an army mechanic and worked on the amphibious trucks a lot and he said that you really had to stay on top of the seals and stuff or they would dry out, shrink up and then leak. When he was in the Guard they got tired of always replacing seals and just never took them into water more than a couple of feet deep. Those fancy cars are neat but if they put them out tomorrow I bet it would be ten or fifteen years before the average Joe on the street could afford one. The other thing is the more complex you make something the more likely it is to break down and the more expensive it will be to fix.

Yes! Give Bob an episode for all his own crazy design ideas and have Sandro critique them.

Glad that Bob and Sandro also agree that public transit is already the answer to all these "problems" presented by futuristic tech companies lol

Video idea. Have Bob and another host react to popular fictitious cars from various video games and their opinions how they would or wouldn't work irl. Like Halo's Warthog, Cyberpunk 2077's whole catalog etc
Similar to how whatever channel does the gun ones with the British museum of guns or whatever

As my father used to say..."Anybody can draw an asshole on paper, but in actuality can you make it shit" %100 what these cars represent.

On the subject of driverless cars and legal issues, when I was at uni studying Comp Sci we had to give presentations on how to handle an no-win situation

Your driving down a road, cliff one side, mother with a push chair the other, her other child runs out into the road... Someone is going to die, what does the car choose? The occupant, the child, the mother and baby.

Someone somewhere has to write the code to determine this outcome, in any outcome, the car company is liable, that person/team is responsible, further, would you get into a car KNOWING it will decide to sacrifice you in the event of a crash like this?

Thats the issue with full automation, like Bob said, someone is always responsible/liable, at the moment the driver is the one that makes the decision (unless there is a proven defect with the car), in the future, the car company will be responsible for ALL incidents... and no amount of EULA will get around it

Somebody needs to get Bob and Sandro in the same room with a concept artist and see what they can come up with for 5 novel, but not insane, designs.

The fact we got a legendary honda designer as a regular for this channel is just something.

"What kind of crazy ideas do you have, creator of the Miata?" "Oh, I dunno, how about an amazing 2 seater...."

0:45 the problem with that kind of suspension is that there would be too much down force on the car from the wind so it would make it more of a safety hazard

Regarding the lack of restraint systems and air bags. Even if you could guarantee your car wouldn't crash you can't guarantee that someone else will not crash into you.
