Two weeks ago my '70 Ford p/u wouldn't start. I hit it with a shovel and she fired right up.

yes that is what I loved about the older cars, you could just swap the engines or even swap the engine parts. Things were so simple

I love Scotty man - he is a self-made millionaire and wears his old Levi's jacket and jeans proudly! And he doesn't need to own a new Porsche, Mercedes, or any new luxury car to show off his talent in your face. I am learning a lot from him.

I bought a 1993 Ford Explorer for $500 6 months ago with 365, 000 miles on the odometer and it was abused by it’s previous owner and sat for a year. The starter motor bolts backed out because of a huge oily mess on the undercarriage and caused the starter to not spin the flywheel when I turned the key. It also had a major misfire issue because the spark plugs were rusted and covered in black oil. The oil also looked like it hadn’t been changed in a long time and the oil filter was loose while taking it off. But after I changed the spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter, the engine runs like a dream. It hasn’t had any problems since I fixed those issues. She’s a strong old girl.

My 1993 Toyota Landcruiser has done 500, 000 km and is still going strong, I bet it’ll still be going when I’m done and dusted !

Sad thing is that nowadays the car you’d like to get is either wrecked or modded to hell.

Tru about standardization. The repair manual for my 1965 Mustang also covers Falcons, Comets and Galaxies.

Agreed, the transmission replacement on my older car cost as much as a computer replacement on my newer car... sigh

Thats why the big auto companies don`t like old mechanics like you and i scotty. We help the little guys. All they ( big auto comp.) want to do is screw the little guys.

Can confirm new parts work on old vehicles.

2007 honda shadow fuel pump relay works perfectly fine on my 1984 honda shadow.

I agree with this aside from one tiny little detail. Fuel injection is soo much better than carburetors, especially in the winter.

I remember back when all you needed was a 9/16 wrench to work on everything under the hood. But now you got to go buy or order a special tool just to work on one single part 🤣😂
