Create Custom Routines for Google Home

You can now activate daily routines from your Google Home and Google Assistant on your mobile device! Routines will adjust lights, change the temperature, play music and much more.

Right now you are able to use: Good Morning, I'm Leaving, I'm Leaving Good Night, Leaving to Work and Leaving Home.

Can you have routine trigger at a certain time of day with no commands? Or with a generic command at a specific time of day? For example let's say I ask Google mini to "set a timer for 5 minutes" In between the hours of 4pm and 5pm while in that time frame Google should then tell me the weather and play a specific artists music for 30 minutes while turning on the heater on in my room for an hour, can this be done with Google home? you can sort of do this with " *Alexa* " but the limiting factor with that ecosystem is that it doesn't allow you to use generic commands to start routines 😕

I have been using both Google and Samsung Bixby for 6 months. Just my two cents, Google should adopt the way that Samsung did on the step by step commands. Routines in Google is a good start but it is limited to a few services only. For example, I have my bedroom lights turn on with 1% brightness when my alarm fired, when I asked Bixby to dismiss the alarm, the light brightness will be turned to 100%. Rest assured, I think Google will keep improving it. Btw, Bro, great video as usual!!

To make it play a playlist, I used the phrase, "Play my playlist called..." or "Shuffle my playlist called..." in the "My Assistant Should..." field, instead of using the "Add Media" section. That was for Spotify. It might work better for other services, to use the media section, but I don't know. If you want a routine to play a song, it's best to add the individual song to a playlist, by itself, because it usually has been playing the radio stations of songs that I put in, the same as when I tell my Google Home to wake me up to particular songs. This way, you can have it play the one song, only, and the the version that you want. Google needs to work on the media alarm, for Spotify, at least. I would like the option to wake up to playlist, the same as I am able to have them play for routines.

Hey Brett, youve said this is for USA/Canada only but, im living in the Netherlands ( Europe) ive set my phone and GH to English USA in this way all works here too . Its a pitty that the ROUTINES dont have the option to switch on /off TV and/or Radio. Thanks for this video again..keep on with this !! High 5

Is there a way I can trigger a routine by arriving somewhere? I tried to create a very simple routine for changing my phone sound mode to "Vibrate" when I get to college, but I couldn't find the way I can do this based on my location.

Hello, great video. I wonder if one can put a command that's not a selection in a routine. For example, I have a good morning routine. However, I want to add Turn on Bloomberg in the living room. My Google Mini would oblige. But, is there a way to integrate into a routine. Would anyone point me in the right direction, please?
