Sensorimotor OCD is a subtype of OCD that involves fear of noticing body sensations or physical movements, leading to compulsive behaviors aimed at reducing anxiety. This can involve excessive checking, touching, or repeating movements to prevent the feared sensations. The fear of noticing these sensations creates a cycle of compulsive behavior and increased anxiety, causing significant distress and impact on daily life.

Do you have sensorimotor OCD? What does it look like for you? 🤔

I’ve known for a long time that I have OCD, but recently I’ve understood the scope of how many sensorimotor symptoms I actually have. Currently my mind feels like a warzone, constantly occupied with awareness of countless normally automatic functions.

Your calm, open, and kind presence is great to watch, and gives me a light, almost humorous feeling about all of my silly symptoms and fears. Thanks so much for your videos.

I noticed googling if I’m feeling a certain thing is actually a form of OCD and if other people talk about that specifically or mention it online also is one of my biggest compulsions.
I think googling symptoms is also a very much overlooked compulsion when it comes to certain types of OCD, especially the not so noticeable and known ones.
Glad you mentioned that too in this video.
Anyway, thank you for making a video about this lesser known or heard of type of OCD.

Guys, trust me. You CAN get over this. Just don't engage and let everything be. Please don't worry, it can literally go away easily. All these tips in the video are extremely helpful. Follow them :)

I have been hyper aware of my swallowing and swallowing saliva for almost 6 years now and I felt I was alone. Thank you for making a video about this ❤.

Hi Nate,
thank you so much for this video. This is my subtype and I often have the feeling that this subtype is forgotten by many therapists because it is not as common like the other subtypes. You make me feel not alone, thank you so much.

Oh my god this literally is crazy. I think I have this too. I struggle with several types of OCD but I never knew this was OCD. I assumed it was just a fear but it makes so much sense. I would have every now and then a time where it become aware of salivating and I would constantly feel like I couldn't stop swallowing because my mouth kept filling up and more and more saliva sometimes I was able to stop it but I always had to just accept it. It's just hard to stop worrying about it but like other types of OCD, it's the only way to make it stop but it would go on for hours. Sometimes I never even knew it was OCD

I like that you use this series not to _own_ bad TikToks but instead use them to support your message. Positivity over negativity.

I have bladder sensorimotor OCD and it feels like you exactly described it! That's good to see that i'm not crazy and it's a real problem. Now when i know what it's called i can work with that. Thank you!

This short video helped me soooo soooo much! I related to a lot of these examples. I’m having a really bad OCD episode inflamed by stress and thought I was going crazy. I feel relaxed for the first time in days knowing this is what’s happening.

I LOVE how you outline that this is treated the same as other themes!

I'm currently relapsing with my tongue; I notice the feeling of my tongue and sometimes even though I know it's perfectly fine and in the right place, sometimes I think "why can I feel it so much?" and "it feels uncomfortable" I'll notice it and my mind won't switch away from it, especially when I lay down to sleep

I found out I have hypermobile joints about 7 years ago when I went to physical therapy for the first time to address my back pain. Since then, I've slowly but surely become obsessed with moving my body "correctly" and trying to put my body back into place. I've made the pain worse through efforts to be mindful. I've known it was anxiety based, but I didn't think it was ocd for such a long time because the classic symptoms people talk about seem to be focused on specific things, but I'll obsess over anything that feels wrong. I hit a breaking point recently, and I feel like I have to hit the reset button on therapy I've been doing for a year and a half. Super overwhelming, but I'm trying to be optimistic.

It takes strength and courage to seek help and address these challenges, and I applaud you for bringing awareness to this important topic.👏👏👏👏❤❤

Hey Nate, a topic I haven’t heard you touch upon (and that may be considered sensorimotor) is the fear and obsession of sensations in your head. I have struggled on and off with an obsessive fear of having photosensitive epilepsy, following an event involving them with a loved one of mine. Same thing with compulsively checking in the obsession of getting carbon monoxide poisoning
