I did CPR on a man who dropped w a heart attack practically at my feet and immediately turned purple. It was so surreal. The fire department arrived and took over thankfully. His name was Harry. He lived for 4 more happy years and brought me flowers regularly as did his family. He became one of my dearest friends. He was in his 70’s and even bought a Harley Davidson and brought it to my work to show me. So much joy!! ❤❤

Telling people that they can only help at that point and not make anything worse is awesome. That's one thing I've never heard in a CPR course. Takes away a lot of fear and anxiety about hurting them more.

As someone who survived a cardiac event. 4 different people did cpr on me for 18 minutes until paramedics arrived. Thank you. Don’t give up on people. I was 21 when this happened. I’m 35 now with a 10 year old child and wife of 14 years. Thank you to those involved.

CPR is undoubtably one of the most important skills that everyone should learn.

I’m still dealing with giving my wife CPR last December when she had a sudden heart attack. She survived because I called 911 immediately when she stopped responding and for the next 8 minutes, I gave everything I had in me to not let the light leave her forever.

As someone who has given CPR for 14.5 mins till paramedics arrived amd then 4 yrs ago had a sudden cardiac arrest and was dead for 42mins, I cannot stress hard enough how important it is for everyone to learn CPR and basic first aid. It saved my brain and life.

It's scary, ribs might break during CPR, but our teacher told us keep going. A few broken ribs are treatable, death isn't.

In 2021, my mother collapsed on me from Hypotension (deadly low blood pressure). I called 911 who told me step by step how to do CPR to someone who has never done it before. I even did mouth to mouth. I did it til the paramedics arrived. She died 4 days later at the hospital. But during those 4 days I was told that what I did gave her a fighting chance and I gave her a little bit more time. I think about that everyday.

I did a first aid course years ago, the lady who ran it was absolutely amazing. A few things she said have stuck with me for years. They are as follows:
1) The speed of the chest compressions should match the speed of the song "row row row your boat"
2) BAD CPR is way better than NO CPR, standing back and doing nothing is the worst thing you can do.
3) DONT STOP CPR until paramedics arrive, even 30+ minutes of CPR may save that persons life.

Hope this helps someone.

EMT/firefighter here. This is the most concise way I’ve ever heard CPR described

This is one of the more real thing out there. “You’re not saving their life. You’re buying them time for the actual life-saving actions.” I understand and can distinguish the differences, but ofcourse, with the technicalities away, you contributed to saving a life so you’re still welcome to say you saved a life by performing cpr

No one told me how much physical effort CPR takes to offer meaningful assistance. Like after two minutes I was breathing heavy and sweating. Can’t imagine 15 minutes or more. Crazy.

Every minute that passes without CPR is a 10% higher chance of passing. It’s so important!!

My mum died last month. I found her literally as ahe drew her last breath. I called the ambulance and dispatch coached me through the trauma of pulling my mum onto the floor from her bed, and doing cpr for almost 25 minutes. I never knew why cpr was so important...thank you for explaining for me what was actually happening. It has strangely helped me in my grief.🙏

Please note that Dr. Mike said “*proper* CPR.” This is very important. Don’t go by what you see on tv and instead take the short training course. It can only benefit you and those around you.

My friend's family home burnt down, her grandma died from related complications shortly after, and the next week her neighbour dropped on his front lawn while they were there to grab what little was left. She did CPR on him for around 7 minutes and ended up buying him enough time for the ambulance to arrive. He passed a day later, but she bought him enough time for his family to say goodbye. She's one of the strongest people I know.

Dr Mike used to be seen as just a YouTube "doctor" but this man is educating the world with these conversations, videos, and shorts 🙏 mad respect to anyone trying to spread straight facts instead of all the nonsense spewed for money and views.

Finally a short worth watching. Everything he said is true. For anyone who’s on the fence, thinking “can I do that?” Statically, the best case scenario for survival in cardiac arrest is 10%. A person looses 1% for every minute without help. Want to know how long the average response time is for an ambulance? 10 minutes. BYSTANDERS SAVE LIVES. Find a CPR class
