it’s like sword fighting with pencils except one person has a mechanical pencil and the other has a knife

“ the sword on annihilation “ is an empty promise

“ the throngler “ is a cold testimony

One was named by its user,
one was named by its foes.

"Sword of Annihilation" has a destiny to fulfill.

"The Throngler" has a reputation to keep.

"The Throngler" is so nondescript it could literally be the title of anything. And yet it carries the feeling that no matter what it is, you don't want anything to do with it

Edge of Annihilation sounds like it was named by it's wielder.

The Throngler was named by it's enemies, for leaving bodies in a state that can only be described as "throngled."

"This is because typically, when a sword has a shorter name, it is because it is already well known for it's destructive might, and does not require any further description."

The Throngler sounds like it only has wrong ends

Magic Swords: more powerful the less word they have in the name
Very big sword: damage scales directly with how long the name is

You understand what you're getting into when going up against the "Sword of Annihilation", but being "Throngled" can mean a million different things and none of them are pleasant

"Sword of Annihilation" merely declares intent. "Throngler" is a statement of prior result.

Because of this video I have made it a tradition whenever I'm playing Pokémon to catch a Honedge (in every game it's available in) and nickname it "Throngler."

“It's like these fellows who name their swords 'Skullbane' or 'Souldrinker' or somesuch." Tric tied his saltlocks into a matted knot atop his head. "Tossers, all."
"If I were going to name my blade, " Mia said thoughtfully, "I'd call it 'Fluffy.'"
Tric snorted with laughter. "Fluffy?"
"Byss, yes, " the girl nodded. "Think of the terror you'd instill. Being bested by a foe wielding a sword called Souldrinker... that you could live with. Imagine the shame of having the piss smacked out of you by a blade called Fluffy.”

It's simply dependent on how many words one can say before they die.

"The Throngler" tells you that most enemies could only utter 2 words before perishing.

I think the “the” in the short names really seals the deal. Like this isn’t just any throngler, this is THE throngler
